I was surprised how many reviews it had on amazon. I can't say I loved it. I think the story is cool and the plot twists but I got really bored about half way thru. And I hated how it kept jumping around dates. I was starting to get thrown off.
I bought Me Before You to read next and of course forgot my kindle at home!
Yeah it was not that good. The thing about Gone Girl was, even though the plot was completely unrealistic and occasionally predictable, it was still fun to read because it was well written. You kind of need that in a book, lol.
I really liked it! The characters were all flawed and hard to like and I found the date/time stamps at the beginning of each chapter hard to keep straight, but really liked the way the characters and the story were revealed.
I liked it and skipped out on a day of doing anything else so I could sit on the sofa and finish it. It wasn't life-changing or anything, but I thought it moved along at a good pace and was a fun read.
Eta: I read for a living. This was a quick diversion from the heavier novels I'm usually reading at any given time.
It must have been too hyped up to me because I was underwhelmed. But if I hadn't heard everyone rave about it I might have thought it was decent. I was expecting more the way everyone talked about how great of a book it was.
