I have eaten a lot of cookies today. I cleaned a lot this morning and now I'm having contractions. Nothing real, but when my husband is at work, my parents/childcare are an hour away, and the hospital is 40 minutes away it makes me a little worried. I also don't like the huge spiders that come out of hiding in fall. At least they are all outside.
I'm at the inlaws. My mil had FIL go get instant mashed potatoes this morning for this meal on Sunday of chicken and noodles. Apparently tradition says you put it over mashed potatoes. I have a lot of issues and judgement over mashed potatoes that are instant. I realize this is crazy and that I'm a potato snob but who can't make fresh mashed potatoes. Why do instant even exist? And isn't the noodle the carb. I'm all about carb overload but it seems silly.
My inlaws eating habits in general confuse me and are diet opposite mine.

I judge instant mashed potatoes too and I am FAR from a food snob. The increase in tastiness is exponential for not that much more work!
If you have a Harris Teeter, the Harris Teeter All Natural ice cream Southern Milk Chocolate flavor is made by the same people who make the stuff for Wendy's frosties and just put it in a carton for sale at HT.

Instant mashed potatoes taste like cardboard to me. I do use them for things like shepherd's pie, though, when the flavor is masked by a lot of other things.
So can I count those baked snap pea crisps as actual vegetable intake? DS1 just ate about a million of them. Keep in mind when you answer that this kid has not voluntarily eaten a green veggie in literally two years.

Mmmm cookies! What kind?
Well for breakfast, I had a piece of a cast iron skillet cookie I made for pizookies last night for dessert. Then for snack I had oatmeal flax chocolate chip cookies. Those are healthy, right?!
OK expanding on the mashed potato story. We are having a meal that my husband's grandfather used to make in his honor. So it's kind of a special occasion. Lots of people come over so I do get that it's easier.
I'm a bitch. I realize this. My biggest craving besides ipas is potatoes. This just doesn't seem right.
Also.my inlaws are the sweetest things ever so I should say nothing. But I will continue. We are in the Midwest where there is a bounty of fresh produce and they eat everything out of cans. If we do have veggies. We have canned corn. Canned peas. Canned everything. We had canned peaches today. It's peach season.

We're entering day 2 of a boil water advisory (since 3 pm yesterday). I feel like I'm camping in my house because I'm boiling water to wash dishes (no dishwasher). My kids really need a bath but they can't get any water in their mouths.
10 days post c-section and I'm 20 pounds down (out of 43 gained total). So yay? 23 more to go. I wonder how long it will take to get back to my old self.
Deep breaths mama. You JUST had a baby and are doing a GREAT job!

I know. It's just hard being so sedentary and feeling my muscles just go soft and flabby after I worked so hard for years to get/stay in shape. It's hard.
I know (((hugs)))
We wanted our kids close in age (omg what was I thinking) so I only tried to lose weight in between pregnancies. But it used to be my job to be in shape and it's so hard knowing that I've got a long way to go to get back there.

I stayed up past midnight last night to purchase one of the new Star Wars toys for my husband for Christmas. He better appreciate it! We are flying to Colorado next week to look for an apartment. If we find one, we will be moving across the country in 10 days, with a 13 month old and a 7 year old dog, and have done nothing to prepare for it.

WE WILL DO IT!
Ummmm I haven't even started gaining yet and I'm already wondering how quickly I'll lose my weight this time around. Most messed up, party of one??
I am also already looking forward to when I won't be breastfeeding anymore. Again, cart before horse here. I am insane!
I'm laying in bed trying to decide how I can get out of cooking dinner but even take out sounds shitty. I've hit rock bottom! ::sob::
We got a new (to us) car! We just traded in our 2004 Ford F150 gas guzzler for a 2013 Nissan Leaf with only 16k miles on it. I've never traded a car in at a dealership before since our first two cars died horrible deaths and another we sold on craigslist (and didn't replace) - OMG, it was so easy! And one thing I didn't even realize until we were looking at the paperwork - we only pay sales tax on the difference in value, so we saved like $600 by trading in directly vs if we had bought and sold in two transactions. And no hassle! Somehow this makes me feel like a grownup. Anyway, super excited for the Leaf, we'll feel way less guilty driving it around for short errands, and we did make sure that we have enough leg room with the car seats installed.

Am I a bitch if I say I lost 20 of my 41 pounds within 2 weeks, and nothing since? Womp womp.
My mom and sister both lost allllll their weight in the first two weeks and I'm still holding onto half of it. My aunt and grandmother were both commenting on it today. Thanks y'all.
My kid is taking a 3 hour nap and I really haven't done a damn productive thing during this time period. And I really needed to crank out some work before first tri sickness sets in. Thus far I have no symptoms except a nagging headache. I feel mildly hungover.
My genius attempt to get my mother involved in something outside the house seems to be fizzling. She is agreeing to meet with the people from the French immersion preschool, but I think she's mostly doing it to humor me. What if her French isn't good enough, what if they want her to do actual work like change diapers or corral kids, what if she dislikes the staff, blah blah blah. I guess this is a good preview for trying to get a shy kid involved in activities? lol.
Clearly I pitched this wrong. If I could have made it seem more like her idea, maybe it would have gone better? Ugh.
