On a house we looked at today! We went and looked at three places this morning. Now we're looking at the pictures we took and talking through the two we liked to try and decide if we want to make an offer on one of them. I already know that I want to move forward with my favorite but H is still skeptical. I'm trying not to pressure him to agree with me, but I really want him to agree with me! Haha.
amaranth - It has 1.5 bathrooms, but they're both really small. It's not a dealbreaker for either of us, but has him uncertain.
It was built in the 50's so it's got a ton of personality and stands out from the newer, cookie cutter houses. Most of the rooms have real hardwood floors, the living room has a gas fireplace, it has AC and a security system (both of which look like they might be a little old and may need to be updated soon-ish, but we don't know for sure), three bedrooms with a master bedroom big enough for our king sized bed, lots of counter space in the kitchen, built-in shelving in the garage, a utility room, a huge, fully fenced backyard... Basically, it has all of the things that we said we absolutely have to have in a house.
I see a ton of potential for things we can slowly renovate to make it our own but keep the uniqueness of the original design.
Exciting! When do you expect to hear a response to the offer?
what it's worth, our first house was a townhouse with only 1.5 bathrooms. It was fine for the two of us. Now we have 2.5 bathrooms and I feel that while it's great with our current houseguests, it's just way too many right now for the two of us. The extra bathrooms just are more to clean.
grover - That's a great question. I actually have no idea when we might hear back. They're having an open house tomorrow, but their realtor said that if they get an offer that they want to accept before the open house they won't wait until after the open house to accept it, so I'm hoping that means we'll hear one way or the other pretty quickly.
We do know that there is one other offer on the table, so we're just hoping that ours is the one they'll accept.
amaranth - Of course! The listing only has a picture of the front of the house, but I took a bunch of pictures while we were there today so I'll include those with the listing link.
And anyone else who wants to see, just let me know and I'll add you to the PM. I don't want the pictures/listing out for the whole world to see so I won't post them in this thread, but I trust you guys to know the approximate area of the world where I live.
Good luck! We put our offer in on I think a Thursday night? They were scheduled to do an open house that weekend but prefered to negotiate with us. Of course, knowing that, we had to go a little higher than we had hoped (we gave them a really good offer, but not list plus closing, they wanted list with closing).
grover - Apparently we're giving them until Tuesday to respond, because of the holiday weekend.
I was really excited earlier, and now I'm in the questioning everything phase. Now, instead of hoping that they accept our offer, I'm sitting here wondering if we've just made a horrible mistake. Gah! LOL.

I kinda felt that way too after the first house we offered on. It was above our price range so I'm actually glad that one didn't work out. If it doesn't, there's always something else!
