We just got a call from our auto insurance company because the post office sent mail back to them. We moved and set up an address change with the post office and they were forwarding mail, so not sure why that got sent back to them. Anyway...
The called to update our address and some other info. NBD. Until, at the end of the call she slips in how our rate is now going up $5/mo. I asked why and she told me the insurance rates can be different depending on the location. We literally moved 3 miles within the same town. I know it's not a lot of money, but WTF.
I didn't even think about this when we moved... boooo!
I guess I just never really thought about this before. I understood it when we moved from one state to another, but I didn't know that a few miles made a difference. Just venting, really. :-)

Insurances rate plans based on zip codes. It happened to us when we moved a couple miles across town, but H works for GEICO so we knew what was coming. It only changed a couple of bucks.
