If you work in DC and live in Alexandria, would you go to Tyson's Corner for dinner?
I'm trying to figure out what to get my brother for his birthday. There's a restaurant in Tyson's Corner that I'm thinking of getting him a gift certificate to.

It's impossible to guess DC/Alexandria/Tyson's Corner traffic and distance without a local point of reference. Thank you. I'll rethink it or find something else.
Heck no. I live in Alexandria and have an job interview out that way today and am still 50/50 on whether or not I would take it because traffic is so ridiculous getting there.
No way. When I lived in Merrifield I wouldn't go to Tyson's for dinner. I avoid that area as much as possible. Like the pp said, I can't think of any restaurant that would be worth going there for.
I agree with GT, there aren't any awesome restaurants in Tysons that don't have their equivalent in Old Town Alexandria.
I live on the border of Arlington/Alexandria. It's been 6 years since I've been to Tysons for anything.
Chia- I used to work at one of the Great American Restaurants. They are delicious. I don't think there are any in Alexandria, but Carlyle in Shirlington is very close to Alexandria.

My thought with the Great American Restaurant certificate is that there are a few different restaurants in NoVA - and, most of them are pretty easily accessible.
Carlyle and Mike's are both pretty convenient to Alexandria... but, it depends on where in Alexandria. Also, I just had dinner at Mike's the other night, and it was really delicious!!!!
OMG, Mike's is terrible. I hate that place so much.
What?! How you not like Mike's?! Does.not.compute. It's crowed but the food and service are always good. We go on weeknights and can always get a table.

The only time I ever went to Mike's, the wait was pretty long and the hostess was really rude, so we left. I'm not a huge fan of the Great American Restaurants though, although I know many are.
What rest is it in Tysons? I agree with all the others. Plus I love the Carlyle in Shirlington (close to Alex). Get a Great Amer GC or one for some place in DC.
