There's a (supposedly) religious cult that's moving into my neighbourhood. They own 3 houses on the street behind me (out of about 16 houses, all over $1million when the average price in town is like $200k).
The street I live on has 35 houses planned and 4 are the same religious group.
The "place of worship" has a high fence all around it and you need a code to get in. The women all wear skirts and something on their head (like a princess Kate type headpiece) and don't work outside of the home, ever. Nobody can seem to figure out what any of the men do for $$.
I didn't think religious cult but then some of our neighbours have heard rumours that it's similar to Scientology. I'm fascinated if it is!
The builder who works for them said they only build houses with a minimum of 8 bedrooms because they're expected to host other worshippers from all over the world. They won't eat or drink with anyone outside of their religion.
Anyway, the super secret nature of it all is fascinating to me! I don't really care who they are but I'm definitely intrigued by the lack of jobs but tons of $$$. And the high fences. And the fact that you can't just go to a service.
Anyone have any thoughts as to what religion it may be?
"Not gonna lie; I kind of keep expecting you to post one day that you threw down on someone who clearly had no idea that today was NOT THEIR DAY." ~dontcallmeshirley

That's basically what I was picturing. And look, if I got to be filthy rich and the requirement was to wear fancy headpieces and not discuss my religion/cult, I could probably cope. Just sayin'.
as a realtor I can even look up who holds their mortgages and that's even hard to find.
Your state's secretary of state office likely has a tool to search for info on corporations. Here, you can pull registered agent and most corporate filings.
Maybe in the U.S. you can, but I'm pretty sure our privacy act here means I can't do that!
I know the last name of the people who are building houses on our street, but googling them is fruitless and the "place of worship" is still numbered.
So the actual names of the people are easy to find. They aren't secretive about that, just about the actual religion.

Now I'm determined!! Lol.
I don't know much about them but could they be Roma?
Hmm.. Sounds like they could be an off shoot of the Witness Lee / Local Church movement. Some of the splinter groups from these churches live this way.
