I know on certain platforms, rating or promoting or disapproving of a post/answer/thread/comment in some form is a way to filter the best or promote community, but I just don't see a way that this improves interactions on facebook.
I don't think that's a good idea at all. We don't need to let the internet steep further into passive aggressive cowardice. I mean, great if it's for "I dislike that you're going through a rough time," but you know a good portion of the time it won't be.

I don't know, jerks will be jerks. Likes can be passive aggressive too.
I think the ability to choose between like and dislike will be a huge marketing tool for corporate and business FB usage.

Agree. It better be optional to add to posts, otherwise it's just nasty and a bad move.
There should be something. There was a death announcement on our HS's alumni director's facebook page and it was really sad. So many people liked it. It was not the right context at all to like anything.
