There is a possibility of me switching jobs. I am in the final stages and waiting on one final background check to come through. My current company wants to send me across the country to conduct a training in Oct. I don't have the job yet, but was informed that I should receive an offer soon from the new company.
My current co. is making some sacrifices for me to go conduct this training and it's quite expensive. Any opinions here? I can't really stall, and I just have some moral issues with doing this to them. I keep telling myself that this is business and it happens but I still feel guilty if I cost them money.
Unfortunately, I think you have to wait it out for the offer. It sucks to cost your current company money when there's a high likelihood you'll be leaving, but you also don't want to explain the situation and then not get the offer. That just puts you in a bad spot. Look out for yourself first, be smart about the situation, and alert the appropriate people as soon as you're able.

Wait for the offer. I was in a similar situation in that I was able to stall my current company on buying plane tickets, but they'd already paid a $700 conference fee. I think they had the option to send someone else in my place but there wasn't another employee for whom that area of training made sense, so they just ate it. My boss never said a word and we still have lunch occasionally, so it's just something that happens.

Wait for the offer. Any way that you can tell your current company that you have previous plans for those days and will be unable to attend the conference?
