unrelated - I just finished reading a random cheap kindle book set in Canada and shit kept throwing me off. Like thanksgiving was on the wrong day and the near impossibility of somebody having a legally obtained handgun with concealed carry permit was a plot point.

I was all, "huh??? oh right. Canadian."
Did anyone apologize unnecessarily? Were there mounties? Did anyone stop at Tim's in the middle of a car chase?
it was a crime/suspense novel, so yup, lots of mounties. of course they referred to them as the RCMP's so it took me a while to figure out what that stood for. And LOL, no tim's. It was waaaaaay the hell out in the boonies on a ranch. I'm trying ot think if there were any unnecessary apologies - not really. But the interpersonal conflicts resolved much faster than most books of the genre would have wrapped things up. LIke a 15 year rift between a father in son all smoothed over in a 2 day period because they both apologized.
