Viola Davis made history at Sunday night's Emmy Awards when she became the first black woman to take home the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series trophy. Her acceptance speech, which touched upon the lack of opportunity for women of color, was poignant, emotional and empowering.
So it's a serious wonder why "General Hospital" actress Nancy Lee Grahn used that moment to criticize Davis.

I wish I loved #ViolaDavis Speech, but I thought she should have let @shondarhimes write it. #Emmys

"Im a f**king actress for 40 yrs. None of us get respect or opportunity we deserve. Emmys not venue 4 racial opportunity. ALL women belittled," she wrote in a since-deleted tweet captured by BuzzFeed.
She also took issue with Davis quoting Harriet Tubman ("In my dreams, I see a line. Over that line, I see green fields and lovely flowers and beautiful white women with their arms stretched out to me over that line, but I can't seem to get there no how, I can't seem to get over that line").

Viola Davis winning lead actress Emmy's historic. My upset is acting awards dont fix racial injustice. As an actor I see how irrelevant we r
After receiving backlash for her comments, Grahn attempted to apologize and respond to her critics.
She wrote a lengthier response in an extended tweet:
I apologize for my earlier tweets and now realize I need to check my own privilege. My intention was not to take this historic and important moment from Viola Davis or other women of color but I realize that my intention doesn't matter here because that is what I ended up doing. I learned a lot tonight and I admit that there are still some things I don't understand but I am trying to and will let this be a learning experience for me.
Or you could treat yourself and come over to CBS soaps. Make your next move your best move (hot).
I don't know if I can get into new soaps at this point. I'm too grouchy and set in my ways. lol
My main soaps have always been DOOL and AW and I was always an NBC soap watcher. But I got really into GH and PC years ago. The only CBS soap I've ever watched was ATWT.
But I haven't watched DOOL or GH in a year. I flaked. I'm a flake. Ms. Flake, to you.
LOL @ flaking. Hey, maybe you will just never return and be counted among some of the strongest people in the world.
Oh gah, ATWT...the good old days !
I didn't go with a hard sell because no way could I watch a new soap either at this point.

I may be a flake, but I'm also a chump. I'll return. I always do. lol
Been watching soaps since I was about 6, with my grandmother. So, let's see, two ~37 minute soaps per day, for a year. I'm going to be busy.
I miss ATWT, too. It was my newest soap and I'd been watching about 7 years at that point and damn I was upset. I don't know if I can take anymore of my soaps dying.
SAME! I think you will go back, too, I'm just trying to be supportive . I once gave up Y&R for a year but I went back. I recently gave it up for 3 months, but went back. Right now, I havent watched in two weeks, so tonight I will spend an hour reading recaps on soapcentral. FML.
Sorry for the hijack. It's rare I get to mix soaps and GBCN, but when it happens, it's always so good.

How dumb. That showed a remarkable tin ear.
I was about to use the opportunity to diss soap opera actresses until I remember that Julianne Moore and Robin Wright, among other great actresses, used to be on them.
I was thrilled that Viola won; I thought she was the best or second best in the category (Taraji).

Speaking of Meg Ryan, did you guys notice that there were so many actresses at the Emmys who had had bad lip work (trout pout)? I can just imagine what Joan would've said.
