I get that deliveries are sometimes late but just call when you say you will and things will be much more pleasant.
We just had a car transported from CA to NY. I was first told it would be here Thursday. Then Friday. Saturday the driver tells me Monday for sure but that he would absolutely call me Sunday to confirm. Want to know when he called? 9pm Monday! To say he would be here with the car in a hour.
I'm confused. You called pier 1 and they said they would find you a new delivery company then you called the 1st company?
No. It's very confusing. Pier 1 agreed to find me a new delivery company & pay for it after the fiasco. I had originally scheduled through a vendor that they recommended. After they found an alternative delivery service they then agreed to call the original company to cancel the delivery. I think they realized I was at my wit's end & shouldn't speak with anyone else.
Your vent made me feel better about our new home situation... Misery loves company?
Saturday, while at the OLD house working our asses off cleaning out all the extra bits of crap that you think is one load but is somehow several (or lots of recycling/trash/freecycling), one of our units at the new house leaked and flooded the attic, soaking both sides of a wall that separates a room from the stairwell. The ceiling in the room has to be stripped/replaced. The wall the same thing. And the stairwell - was part of our $2k professional paint job to have our whole house painted in the color schemes I wanted from room to room. Has to be stripped and redone because the water bubbled out a 2-story t-shape of water damage behind our brand new SW duration paint.
Apparently what was caught in the inspection and receipts show was "fixed" was not actually fixed by the prior homeowners.
And the other unit was getting to the point of this one.
So we are dropping a cool $3500 Thursday to change out our attic systems in our new house.
Better that it be money spent in the NEW house than the old... but still - we have made 1 mortgage payment. Seriously.
So pissed. My husband was screaming so loudly when he found the flooding that I thought he'd have a stroke.

While I would have been mad that they didn't deliver when they promised, I don't know if I would have given them such a hard time. Unless I absolutely needed the item or there was no way I would be available to receive it the next day, I would have given them the chance to deliver it the next day.

Nope. If I took 3-5 hours off work, I would be pissed. That's $200. And now I should donate another $200??

Lol. Glad you have 4 hours to waste waiting for deliveries that don't arrive!

Omgggggg! Did you all purchase any sort of home warranty? I know my DH would have probably gone into a fib.
Yes, thank God. But what they are willing to pay for the cost of the system is half of what it would cost to replace the whole first system, so we are doing that instead.
Home warranty doesn't cover the wall damage though - that will be homeowner's insurance. Deductible for that is $3300.

Isn't there anything in their escrow to cover something that they fucked you over on?
I'm really annoyed that the overpriced IKEA desk I wanted required delivery (that is they don't even sell it in my IKEA and I had to pay $50 for said delivery). If you don't sell an item in a store that you advertise you should at least comp delivery. I felt like throwing some yellow shirted IKEA worker over a bridge to swim with the swedish fish. So I guess I understand.

I'm not sure I know what you mean. We already closed on the house. 7/31. So except for suing them for breach of contract is there something else we should be considering of which I'm unaware!?

'Round these parts money is held in escrow for 30-90 days (depending on...I'm not sure what) that covers any issues not disclosed at the closing. I guess you guys don't have that.
