I should probably shower and put on real clothes. Our contractor for our bathroom is supposed to show up sometime today. They didn't give me any time specifications (How wonderful...)
I'm just going to be doing more cleaning and organizing. Hopefully cross off some big projects today!
I'm taking E to the doctor this afternoon to be evaluated for reflux. It may just be colic or gas, but he seems like he is in so much pain and I would feel so guilty if I found out later that it is indeed reflux, and I did nothing to help.
We're also transitioning him to his flat bassinet to sleep rather than his reclined newborn napper. Last night was the first night and it wasn't that bad.

((hugs)) pooh8402. Feel free to PM me. I went through very similar stuff with C and it sucked more than words. They thought reflux, then thought he was allergic to everything (which meant I had to cut it out of my diet since BFing). Honestly, I think it was colic and maybe oversupply/fast letdown issues more than anything. Maybe try to get a LC apt as well?? I ended up stopping meds cold turkey (for reflux) after the GI and PP doula both agreed it wasn't reflux and likely colic. Hang in there...it does get better.
ETA: For the past few months, everywhere we go everyone comments on what a happy baby he is. Literally, I get comments all the time and I just think and say "well, it wasn't always like this...the first 4 months were HARD". Once he hit 4 months and we ST'd it was a total game changer...I can remember just wanting to push a pause button and keep him that age forever and every stage since has been that way. It only continues to get better! I do feel sad that I didn't enjoy his first few months though...total mom guilt there, especially after all we went through to have him (which, the reminder of how much we prayed/wanted him really did give me the strength and patience to get through those really hard days/weeks and enjoy him as much as possible given the circumstances...but yeah, I was a mess...all this to tell you that you are a great mama, whatever you are feeling is normal, it does get better, and you will get through this!). I'm glad he's smiling for you now- that does help!

We had a great meeting with our realtor last night! She wants to list (whenever we are ready, even if it's March-ish) for a price we are thrilled with and believe we can get (there is also a few comps that will help with this price). We meet with my uncle tonight and will likely list soon (like next week). We are planning to look in new city this weekend. Our biggest fear is we can sell our house and not find something we love in new city...and I refuse to move twice! So, if it doesn't work out on both ends then we will stay put until March. I told DH that I think we should give it a good 6 wks, if nothing happens in that time then we will wait til March. Exciting and scary at the same time...both of us hardly slept last night.

that's why I was initially going to wait until his 4 month appointment to evaluate for reflux. I thought he was gassy/colicky and yes, I also have a fast let down. he burps and farts just fine, so I'm not so sure it's gas. he just seems like he is in pain--arching his back, kicking his legs. he pulls off the breast constantly now where it used to be every once in a while. it seems to be getting worse, not better.
MMM told me about this website: www.refluxrebels.com/acid-reflux-signs-and-symptoms-in-infants/ and E seems to have about half of the symptoms. the main reason I wasn't initially thinking reflux is that he is gaining weight and he likes being flat on his back. in fact, one of the ways to calm him is to take him to our room, lay him on the bed and let him look at the ceiling fan. but everything else...
from that list, he has these symptoms:
Gagging and choking – during feeds or after
Vomiting – large amounts of spit-up or projectile in nature
Frequent or wet hiccups – especially common in refluxers
Excess drool in the absence of teething
Foamy or bubbly lips on recurring occasions
Abdominal pain – indicated by arching back, either during or after feeds or both
Poor sleep – inability to sleep soundly, frequent waking, and/or crying in sleep
Over eating – many will comfort eat to soothe themselves
Unexplainable, inconsolable crying – especially during or after feeding, burping or hiccupping
Feeding aversions or refusals – usually related to the association of pain with feeding
Swallowing or gulping – after a feeding or burping
Chronic cough – after a feeding or burps
Back arching – especially during and after feeding
Wheezing – especially when not accompanied by illness this one is kind of scary. occasionally, he'll make this LOUD wheezing/gasping sound, either during a feeding or sometimes at night. it wakes us up, and we're deaf. this is one of the reasons why I'm hesitant to move him out of our room. Clawing at breast or bottle or pulling off the nipple

pooh8402- C had a lot of those symptoms too (although I can't recall the wheezing...really it's all a blur). He was in a ton of pain, constantly crying, never really content, and vomited a ton. But, he gained weight well from the get go and I'm not really sure his symptoms lessoned all that much with meds. Not saying E doesn't have it, just what my experience was, although I would not have done anything different because at the time it was worth a shot for any chance that something would work and he would not be in pain...in hindsight, time was the only cure, for C at least. Oh, and C farted and burped like no other, and had hiccups all.the.time. I think that sometimes their GI systems just need more time to develop and as it does these things improve. HUGE ((hugs))!

pooh8402 I hope E gets better. L was a very gassy / colic-ey baby. You and your H are champs hang in there. The first few months are the hardest.
I'm at work now, Dh will be at work until 11:00 tonight. I noticed that I'm falling asleep earlier on the nights dh has to work. It's very strange to me. I didn't even hear him come in last night, I was out cold.
Slow day for me. Guests stayed until 1am last night so I was pretty wiped. A 2 hour nap definitely helped. If I get to the grocery store today then I'll consider it a successful day.
luv2rn4fun, thank you. Basically, I'm willing to try the meds. If they work, great! If they don't, at least I tried and didn't let him suffer needlessly, you know?
travelbug What do you put in your applesauce? When I know that someone is coming to work on the house, I just throw on a hoodie over my t-shirt so that I don't have to put on a bra lol.
I have to reply to an email from MIL and I don't wanna.

that's really all you can do. I also wouldn't wait til 4 months...you are doing everything you can and sometimes that helps (at least you), knowing you are doing something to try and resolve the issue. I hope you get answers soon and E is happier and having better days.

@moonbeam I have never used this recipe before but it called for Granny Smith Apples, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Ground cloves, water and brown sugar. My other recipes call for roughly the same thing

pooh8402 ((hugs)) so many! I can completely relate. I second luv2rn4fun w the pm offer as I had a baby w what was suspected to be reflux but ended up being mspi and it was tough.
I am off today and am currently eating an amazing salad and am about to watch some trashy tv!
Doc agreed with me based on his observations at last week's checkup and my history today. He said it was the same thing with one of his daughters--they delayed medication thinking it was colic and once they medicated her, it was night and day. He said they felt so guilty for not treating her earlier.
We should probably do this too. I've heard video taping a house walk through is effective when you own. Thanks for adding to my to do list.....
I figured your list was getting smaller with all the tasks you are completing lol so... YOU are most welcome *Also thanks for that tip whenever we own, I like the idea of video taping a house.* Good call!

So DS has zantac now. I hope he's better soon!
Great update! Also, melsamoony was super helpful when I was going through this with C.
If you don't see results with Zantac, don't be afraid to try something else (we saw zero results with Zantac but he did ok with Prilosec...still don't think he had reflux though, who knows). Also, keep in mind that dosage needs to increase with weight increase...so if you see improvement and then go back to how he is now, you either need to up your dosage or change prescriptions.

This week productivity on the list came to a halt. I have been doing tons of cleaning, but none of that was on my list BUT, I did completely clean the fridge taking every shelf and piece out to scrub. It's beautiful. I also vacuumed and washed the inside of my car. Laundry is almost done (but that never ends...)
