Do you guys have copies of important documents such as Passports, Birth Certificate etc on your computer or paper copies just in case anything was ever stolen or taken?
I just saw my passport on my table from when I was traveling and had the thought of needing copies just in case. But maybe this is dumb.

When we went to Italy I made copies of everything (passports, credit cards, DL, etc) and gave them to my parents just in case something happened while we were gone. So those are probably on my computer somewhere.
I have copies on a folder within a folder within a folder (you get the point) on my desktop of my passport only. I keep all paper originals of everything from BC to passport to marriage certificate in a file in the heavy-duty, waterproof safe we keep at home.
I don't have copies of my current debit card though....I need to get on that.
When we have left the country we always photocopy our documents and keep the in a separate bag from our originals, but I hadn't thought to keep them at home in addition. They're all in a fireproof safe so I haven't been too worried.
If someday I suddenly have nothing to do and my whole life is caught up I would consider scanning them all into the computer... but that's about 80 years away. If you have time, why not?

I don't have copies of anything except our marriage certificate on my computer just because I needed it to change my name on my accounts. We have everything in a locked fire proof safe. I never thought of needing copies but I suppose it's not a bad idea.

We don't have copies, but we probably should. We keep all of our important documents in a fireproof safe, which is inside our (also fireproof) gun safe.
