I sent an email to junior's teacher yesterday afternoon asking a couple of questions and have not yet received a response. II am questioning whether he is in the right program and it doesn't sound like his IEP is being followed. I should be receiving daily point sheet with notes on how his day was and he should be spending at least 50% of his time in the gen Ed classroom. According to my son he has spent no time in the gen Ed class and I have yet to receive a point sheet at the end of the day. I don't know if he is losing them or they just aren't sending them home.
I plan on sending a letter in the parent/teacher communication folder tomorrow, but I am surprised I haven't received a response to the email. Maybe this is normal and we were spoiled by the constant email communication from the teacher last year. What should my expectations be.
I don't want to be that parent but I want to make sure my son is getting what he needs and we are informed.

I would've expected a response today between before school planning and after school. Assuming she wasn't absent or something. I would be very concerned if the IEP was being so blatantly ignored.
I think with transferring from out of state some transition is to be expected, especially with the strike and delays to school. That said, this doesn't seem like a reasonable amount of gaps. I would be concerned and document everything. The district is pretty well known for IEP compliance issues.
I was told they take 3 days before the kids move into the Gen ed classroom so they can assess needs. We are beyond 3 days and the stories I am hearing have me concerned. Students jumping out windows, standing on desks, biting and hitting, etc.

And today was an early dismissal. I am thinking if I don't hear by tomorrow I will escalate to the principal and sped liason.
I think they need at least 24 hours to be able to respond. I would not escalate to the principal until you speak to the teacher. Call the teacher if they haven't responded.
