HEB is the BEST EVER. Next time you go, you need to check out the prepared food section, if you didn't today. Their mac and cheese is to die for, the meatloaf is delicious, and my husband loves the Asian salmon.
They also have a great bakery -- you can get a dozen cupcakes for $6! I always go there for DD's birthday parties because I hate to spend $$$ on a cake that kids are going to eat two bites of.
I was there today -- wonder if we were there at the same time?

Is your prepared food section like a deli with someone serving customers on demand? Or is it just grab-and-go? Ours is just grab-and-go and nothing ever looks compelling to me.
Central Market is my happy place. I'm excited to go tomorrow, lol.

There's a tortilla making station! LoL
They have raw, pressed tortillas over by the canned biscuits that are freaking delicious. You just cook them in a dry, hot skillet. We won't eat any others at home now. They are SO GOOD.

Mine has a section with someone serving customers on demand, like a smaller version of Central Market's prepared food section. All of the foods are things you'd find at Central Market, which I love, because we used to live a block away from a CM in Dallas, and I got really dependent on the prepared foods section.

Oh also. I was the one with the toddler dropping goldfish all over while intermittently screaming for strawberries from noon to 1pm, lol.
Aw man, that's the exact time I was there! I don't remember seeing a screaming toddler, though.

I loved HEB in college. They built a brand new one while I was there that was awesome. There were rumors of one coming up north but then they built a Tom Thumb right across the street from where I thought it would be and I haven't heard anything more about it.
Omg, if I ever considered moving to Houston for ten minutes, it was because of the abundant, good Pho and the HEB. (I feel like I should tag @littlemoxie so she knows that at least I considered it.)
