I'm looking for a pair of shoes for walking around Disney for 3 days that I could wear with shorts or leggings or jeans (depending on the weather). I can't wear shoes without socks, and I definitely need some kind of support.
I have a pair very similar to that. I only wear them w/ long jeans that are at least straight if not boot cut. I personally think they look funny w/ shorts.
BUT that's just my personal opinion and I FULLY agree- Disney is absolutely about function over fashion. If they are comfortable and you think they'll work for a lot of walking, go for it!
Try sketchers go walk or sport. Probably sport, they're fantastic!
I looked at a pair of the go walks last night, but they felt so flexible that I was afraid they wouldn't be supportive enough. But, if they work for you, I might try them.
I don't like the look of the solid black like that pair. I have a similar pair in light grey/blue like this:
Solid black shoes like the OP are a bit fug to me. I dunno if its the bad 80's American Tourist look like black shoes/white socks + shorts... *-)
I like their Mary Janes too:
I've read that a person walking WDW for a full day can average 7 miles in a day. SEVEN MILES. If you don't do much exercise on a reg basis, that could mess up your feet. Function over fashion @ WDW.
If you are concerned about aesthetics and you want comfort, look into Privo ballet flats. They have serious sneaker tread, lots of support, and are very cute. You can find them on Amazon.

I wear the most comfortable pair of tennis shoes at Disney. I do not care if I'm even remotely fashionable.
I have a pair very similar to that (they're Merrills). They're really comfortable for about 4 hours of walking. After that, they dont have enough support and my feet kill me.

Those are cute, but I need shoes I can wear socks with. I haven't found a pair of shoes that don't rub my feet and/or ankles raw if I don't wear socks, plus I am blessed with overly sweaty feet.
Sneakers it is!
Maybe I'll look for a pair of sneakers that are between this and my really loud running shoes...

We walked 42 miles in 4 days. Including the six year old (well he did a few of those on dad's shoulders).
I'd intended to wear my vibrams (I'm okay without arch support) but forget to pack them. So I did it in these:
I recommend something with a bit of a cushion. But mostly it was okay.

The first pair is exactly the pair (and color) that I have! And I agree about the black shoes. I think that's part of the reason why the pair posted in the OP doesn't appeal to me to be worn w/ shorts
I had a pair similar to the 2nd pair. They were Privo's - which I LOVED. But OMG. The first day I wore them (at Disney), I ended up w/ blisters. I was really, really sad. And they weren't new!
Which means, OP, whatever you do get... break them in a bit and make sure they'll work for long walks!
The sketchers that NitaX posted are probably the style I'd go for.

I got the sport version because they were a little more supportive. For me, the more support the better. I wear liner socks with them.

I think so.
I would just go with your sneakers. I've made the mistake of wearing new shoes in NYC and while they ended up comfy, breaking them in on epic walking trips are no beuno.
Vans or Converse would not cut it for me for lots of walking. I need more support. If you want to buy new shoes (which, I fully support) you should look at some of the retro styled Nikes or Asics or Sacony.
They're hideous, but Disney is filled with so much misery that I don't think there is any time for judgment.
This is so point on. I've offered to sit by the pool & babysit in the evenings for when the grandchildren come along & want to go to Disney.
Very wise lol. We only ever took DS to Disney once, because his grandmother took him 3-4 times. His other grandmother takes him places she wants to go--so far just in 2015, they've gone to Cabo and Vegas. I plan to be like my mother. I do not ever plan to step foot in the park again.
