Our sitters can walk the kids to restaurants, so we usually leave $30, which is enough for 2 kids meals and a regular dinner. + tip I would go with what is the standard price for the right sized pizza plus tip in your area. For later nights, I usually feed the kids and have 2-3 different Amy's frozen entrees for the sitter, and a frozen pizza.
I don't leave them any money. I usually tell them to help themselves to anything in the fridge/pantry (and try to make sure that there's some frozen meals and stuff in there), but they never eat any of it. I think the always bring their own meals. We usually either feed DD dinner before they come or leave a dinner all ready and cut up for her. All of our babysitters are grad students in their twenties, I don't know if that makes a difference.

We do this too. Most of our sitters either eat the rest of what they make for the kids, or they eat after they leave. Grad students are used to crazy eating hours I guess!
I left my nanny $50 in petty cash every day she watched the kids. I had 3 kids. She always left change when she used it for lunches out or whatever. She probably only used any cash 1 time a week.
I don't have kids but I babysat for a 2 year period 2-3x a week for a neighbour and they never left me cash. They always had either frozen pizza or something for me, or i could eat the leftovers from the kids dinner. (I was in High school)
for dinner? She will be watching our 2 kiddos ( 16 months and almost 4) from 7pm to about 12:30am at a rate of 15$/hr.
Is 20$ enough for a pizza?
Or do you all normally ask what they want and order it ahead of time?
That depends, how much does pizza cost where you live? A large pie with toppings comes to $22.50 here with tax, and that's if I go pick up. For delivery, I factor in a tip.
But normally, I leave enough food for the kids and the sitter.
