Last night I got a plugged duct. I noticed when I woke at night that it was pretty painful. I've had a couple before, but they have never been this painful. I nursed DS and then pumped to try to empty. I admittedly probably went a little crazy with the firm message/vibrating toothbrush because I was having trouble getting it to clear. I think DS cleared it when he nursed the second time, because it hasn't been firm since then, but now that breast is incredibly tender. Like, can't hold Ds3 against me on that side because it hurts so much tender. No fever, might be a little red but it's hard to tell. Is this normal? Or is it turning into mastitis? It was probably plugged for 12-16hrs. I'm freaked out about mastitis because I can only take certain antibiotics. Has anyone had an experience like this?

Mine have always hurt for a while after a plugged duct works out. I attribute it to the massaging etc that I do to try & clear the clog. I would take some ibuprofen and maybe hop in a hot shower. It should calm down soon.

I had almost this exact same experience and I went to the doctor the next day. By then the pain had improved a bit and the dr said I probably had the start of mastitis but was able to clear it on my own before it got really bad. It's the worst, sorry!!
