A groupon came a few days ago and I've been thinking about it ever since.
I have curly hair that I haven't figured out how to style. When I "do" it, I dry it straight with a roller brush. Takes about 15 minutes and works well. Rarely I'll go over it with a flat iron, but I don't need to. I would say it is 'medium' curly. If I put a bunch of product in it, it does get pretty curly. Also very fluffy/ frizzy.
Anyway, in the 90s, I got it "straightened" which basically seemed like perm cream/solution and then them combing it straight. I would still have to work at it to get it straight (my dream was to be able to shower and let it air dry without getting curly or frizzy). Then had to deal with grow-out- super curly at roots with more relaxed curls at bottome. Super annoying.
With the Keratin treatment, do you think I will be able to air dry and have straight hair?? Does it grow out and leave me with curly roots or does the whole treatment/effects equally fade out?? Does that make sense?
Any explanation of results and maintenance would be much appreciated.
It will not be straight when you air dry it, definitely not as straight as the 90s straightening you probably did. The treatment removes the frizz and the bulk and makes your hair more manageable. It's easier to style and blow dry. I like the way it looks when I let it air dry because it's not as thick and coarse and unruly, but it's also not pin straight. In fact, sometimes it even gets small waves/curls if I air dry. I used to do the thermal straightening and my hair would be pin straight, but it really damaged the hair and like you said, the grow out was annoying. With keratin it just kinda fades out over time, so the roots don't stand out, at least in my experience.
I did it and loved it... I'm having it done again in a few weeks. my hair sounds a bit curlier than yours- it allowed me to blow it out in about 1/2 the time it normally took, and when I air-dried it, the curls were bouncy and not at all frizzy in the summer (which usually requires a cocktail of perfectly-rationed product!) Compared to the hair straightening treatment from years ago (yup, did that too!), this is WAY more subtle... you still have the option of going curly, which I didn't have with the straightening. If you got a good deal on it, def. check it out.
