My car has been in the shop for almost 2 weeks now. It's at the dealership for a repair that's covered under warranty and will take at least until Wednesday, possibly/probably Friday. The dealership has no loaner cars available right now.
So far we've made do because H has been on paternity leave. But he goes back Monday and I need a car for school drop off/pick up. Is it reasonable to ask the dealer to pay for a rental since they have no loaners?
They had to send fluid samples to a lab for testing. Lab has a ten day turnaround.
This is most likely unnecessary if they have already confirmed the repair will be covered under warranty. Trans fluid?
No, samples from the fuel system. They replaced my fuel pump, but if the damage was caused by diesel that was contaminated with gas they will need to replace other parts of the fuel system as well. So they are testing the diesel from various points in the system to see if there's any gas mixed with it.
Hell yes I'd demand a loaner or reimbursement for a rental. They can give you a new car off the lot to drive if they have to.
My friend had her Chevy at the dealership for over 6 months because of their big recall and they just didn't have the parts for it. They gave her a loaner and she drove the hell out of that thing.
