I've been sick since Saturday am and am apparently incapable of acting like an adult to feel better. I never, ever have stomach problems so I have no idea what to do. I am keeping things in but feel weak, gross, and have a stomachache.
I felt a little better last night and was finally starving so I had H get me 2 cheeseburgers and milkshake. This was a really bad idea and I feel awful this am. I'm nursing a Gatorade and have sprite at the ready, also.
I'm supposed to eat bland things, yes? What if I don't feel like eating - should I eat anyways? Since Saturday I've only eaten 3 times and did not feel great after any of it. I'm really not hungry but am trying to stay hydrated.

I would only eat if you are hungry. Keep sipping on the drinks and if you get hungry stick to BRAT diet (bananas, rice, applesauce, toast) but start small at first. Work your way up to normal meals as you start to feel better.

It'll be a few days before your digestion recovers. Like you start to have an appetite but regret eating afterwards. Stick to crackers, rice cakes, toast, peanut butter, banana, apple sauce, soup... And keep sipping the gaterade. I had a stomach bug at the end of august and lost 6lbs in 2 days :/ Thought I'd never eat again.
I'm sorry, but I'm dying that you ate two cheeseburgers and a milkshake a day after getting a stomach bug??
This is a bit of a glass houses situation because I've done similarly dumb things. I got really sick when I was pregnant (I am convinced it was the penicillin I was on for a sinus infection) and couldn't hold anything down for a week. When I finally felt better, I felt like I had been nourishing the fetus really poorly, so I made myself a big Greek salad.
OMG the carnage a few hours later. I'll spare you the details, but don't eat a lot of fiber any time soon. Stick to brothy soup, toast, crackers, bananas, and Gatorade.
Cut the Gatorade with water and sip through a straw. Avoid artificial sweeteners (so do real ginger ale or Sprite, not diet). Only eat if you feel hungry, but don't let yourself get TOO hungry. Saltines usually work well for me.
rbp - I know!! It seemed like a good idea last night. I remember telling H that it was a good balance of carbs and dairy, lol. I now understand that just because you feel a bit better, you're not completely healed. Oy.
I'll be the voice of dissent here. Every time I have stomach issues, I find that a small cheeseburger from McDonalds really helps. They're not super greasy, they're bland, and it gets protein into my system, which helps me start feeling better.

I totally feel you. I was so excited to eat when I finally felt like it again. Just take it slow! Even when you're back to regular food, go especially slow with fiber and dairy (in my experience)!
