I'll prob get flamed for this, but whatever. On one of the main roads that my neighborhood backs up to there is a lingerie and sex toy shop. Which I don't have a problem with. But recently they have started putting these mannequins out by the curb, scantily clad. Which, ugh, but ok. The past few days it's been getting more risque. Yesterday the woman was in leather and there was a male mannequin behind her with a whip. Today the woman was in a thong and bra and the guy mannequin was behind her holding a rope that was tied around her neck, leash style.
I'm really uncomfortable with this. I mean, I drive my kid past it and she asks questions. The lingerie I can explain. But I had a hell of a time with the whip. The rope I just explained that they were playing dog. Lol But I'm uncomfortable with the message this is sending our teens that pass by this everyday to and from school... That this is acceptable.
Is it worth calling and speaking to someone at the store? I'd be polite, but share my concerns.
lol I was wondering what you were doing over here. Hi!
I lurk here a lot! Many of y'all have kids M's age so I get good parenting tips/ideas. But I don't contribute much here so I usually lose all questions on ML

I would definitely pursue. Those are not conversations I would want to be having at that age.
Legit lol at playing dog, though.
eta - Wait a sec. The mannequins are by the CURB? Like, there on the street? I would definitely ask for them to be moved inside. This is a bit different than a sidewalk sale.
Our neighborhood FB page is pretty riled up. I'm working on composing an email to the city sign ordinance and permits dept to see if they can help.
How big is your city? I would probably call instead of emailing. I know here you'd need a permit for that and I very much doubt it would be approved.
Large. Fort Worth.
I emailed, but I'll follow up with a phone call to the city tomorrow.
I still might call the business and politely ask about the outside advertising. They are less than a mile from a middle school, on several bus routes, outside two neighborhoods, etc. I'm sure I'm not the only parent who has had to answer questions, lol. Hopefully they will be responsive.
