So my daughter has had a 103 fever off and on for 36 hours. No ear infection and doctor gave a plastic bag to put in her diaper to check for a bladder infection (she's 15 months). Has anyone done this?! I've gotten 1/4 of a tsp all day. It's not working! She's miserable and just wanted to rule it out hopefully but this can't be enough to test. What am I missing?
We had to do it for DD and it wasn't easy and I am currently doing it for DS-- thought it would be easier (penis goes more in the bag) but it still fell off (I think I waited to long)
They only need a tiny bit to dip in the office but need a little more to send for a culture. But it's way less than you think necessary.
Did they give you more than one bag?? I hope so! Empty what you get into a cup and keep it refrigerated.
Good luck!
Maybe try letting her be diaper free and stay very close with the cup and try to catch when she starts peeing? That sounds more difficult though
I had to do it with my DS1 but he was a newborn. I just fed him, didn't diaper him, basically waited until he started peeing, and quick put the bag on.
Dang the little bit I got I didn't refrigerate. I got more than one bag but used both already. I didn't want to make her wear it at night. I have been thinking of strategies all night. Using medical tape to tape on and let her go naked. Ugh. She wants to be held all the time so I don't think that's helping.
