OMG, that makes me sad how much the education system in this country is failing people (and I say this as an educator)...don't know if you want to say, but what was his level of education?

I must be missing something. Why would you not consider hiring this guy? I'm failing to see the connection between his inability to spell and his ability to be a good laborer.
I hire laborers, and I have to be honest, I get some applications like this and it doesn't phase me. If they have good references and work history, I'll hire them.

It's a little more involved than just labor. But I agree, if it's strictly a labor position, and their work history and references are good, we'd hire them. There's some other issues with this particular person that wouldn't make them a good fit for the position.

I used to hire for non-skilled factory positions. You should have seen the creative spelling and excuses for being fired on some of those applications. I could often tell right off the bat who I would have to fire later.

My favorite reason for leaving their last job - "no reason."
It really sounds like English is not his native language.
You must not read many papers written by college freshmen.
Sadly, this surprises me not at all.
I am working on a Moron to English translator for my husband to use while grading papers. I'm only half kidding.
I LOL'd. Your H is a professor, right? I have to explain in explicit detail what I will and will not accept from my students, or else I'll receive assignments in text speak. Also, I've had to pull a couple seniors (college, mind you), and explain that they should probably set up an email address that doesn't include the number '69' in it....

Yes, he is a professor. He once had a student say that California is in the northeast of the United States. I mean...what...how... :-(

Wow.
I was recently talking to someone who told me that some members (yes, plural) of his family thought he lives in Europe when he told them he moved to New England.
