After almost 2 years of daily use, the backpack C got as a gift her first Christmas is in need of replacement. I'm not sure where it's from so I'm looking at other options.
Is the Skip Hop little kid backpack big enough for things like large picture books, a diaper clutch, etc? Should I be looking at the big kid size?
Ths isn't for school - more for outings and plane activities.
We used ours for things like going to ballet class or long subway rides (so could fit a book, a doll and maybe a few other things). Plane activities required a bigger backpack, and not one that she was capable of carrying herself at age 3 or 4.

DD2 uses one for preschool. It fits a full change of clothes, her pencil pouch and drawing book, and her books. She mostly carries the paperback Step into Reading types, but can fit several. She uses the front pocket to carry tissue, lip balm and gloves. Most kid size water bottles fit in the side pocket.
I'll say I really like it. She is 4.5 and it's perfect for day use. I throw a few snacks in there if we aren't going home right after school. I like that she can carry it herself and that it is sturdy. It holds it shape well.
If you really want something bigger, I highly recommend Lands End backpacks which come in a variety of sizes.
