Isaac has been completely FF for a few weeks. After his surgery we just never were able to fall back into a good nursing routine and EP wasn't working for me. (I am 100% sure I'm being harder on myself about this than any of you would be on me.)
Since about 6 weeks old, we had been supplementing with Enfamil Infant, which is what he's on 100% of the time right now. In the last two or three weeks I have noticed he is spitting up a bit more, but it's spit up, not puke. I figured it was just the result of going from combo feeding to exclusively FF and haven't thought much of it.
Daycare is calling it "throwing up" and suggesting I try a soy based formula. I totally trust them, love them, think they're great, but I'm just not seeing "throw up!" at home. Unless what I think is spit up is actually throw up? How do I know?

Suggestions on how to handle it?
They brought it up a week or so ago, so I started mixing his bottles at home in the morning because I was worried it was the different waters between home and DC. Things seemed ok for a bit, until today.

I would probably tell a white lie and say his pedi said it's normal and isn't concerned. (Assuming that you're pretty sure that's the case; L was a major spit-uper without reason.)

I was going to call the pedi's nurse line in the morning just to run it by them. Would that make me crazy? His next appointment is mid-November so I don't really want to wait incase I'm wrong. Which is not totally out of the question, here. lol
Also, I agree with trying gentle and not soy, if you switch. I read studies about estrogen levels in soy formula that would give me pause in using them if it wasn't necessary. Maybe they are misleading, but I would get a doctor's buy-in before using them.

I was thinking along these lines too. I wouldn't switch to soy without taking to the pedi and from what you described I think your doc would probably not think there's a problem. How old is your DS? My almost 5 mo has been spitting up more lately and it seems to be due to how active she's become.

Almost 5 months! And sooooo active really in the last few weeks.

Haha, ok I thought I remembered us being due around the same time!! Yes she rolls all around and it seems to make her spit up, but her day care hasn't said anything.

Being more active can cause more spit up for sure, especially if they're on their tummy. I think it's weird that they're saying he's throwing up and not spitting up. There's a definite difference. Plus some babies just spit up more for no real reason. If he seems fine otherwise, I wouldn't worry, but it wouldn't hurt to call the pedi as back up.
When we had problems with formula (this may not even be a problem) we switched brands and then we switched from powder to liquid. We didn't even consider soy.
