I just did a dairy challenge on dd who is 16 months and it failed. I'm so sad. I want her to grow out of her mspi so bad. It's so ridiculously limiting and I just don't want her to have to avoid normal foods forever.
She's tossing and having a harder time falling asleep tonight too. I just feel so bad.
I'm sorry, that sounds so frustrating. I know @awinter has dealt with some milk allergy problems and a careful strategy for trying to decrease sensitivity. I'm not at all sure if this is the same but thought I'd tag in case she has advice!
I'm so sorry. If it is any consolation my DD went from reacting when someone who touched dairy touched her to drinking whole milk with no reaction in a month. It is so totally random when they outgrow it, but it could still happen soon.

That is a great consolation that is could happen so quickly. And that's awesome that it worked out for you. A touch reaction would have to be so stressful.

I'm sorry. To add another hopeful story, DD reacted to a slip up of trace dairy at 15 months and did fine when she stole a sip of WCM from another kid's cup at 17ish months.

I know how frustrating that is, I'm sorry. Anecdote: my DS grew out of most of his intolerances and moved them to just sensitivities when he was about 22 months- so there may be hope yet!
What sort of dairy challenge did you do? Does she have an IGE dairy allergy or MSPI?
If it's MSPI it may just be a matter of another month or two. I believe most kids outgrow MSPI by a year or so, so even if she isn't there now it may be soon.
J had a severe dairy allergy and recently just passed a baked milk challenge. He also has an egg allergy. He is now able to eat baked milk products but we are still probably a year away from being able to eat straight up dairy. Its hard and sometimes I really hate that he can't just eat pizza and cake at a birthday party with all of his friends.

I am sorry. My DD continues to be allergic to both wheat and dairy among other things. I would love for her to be able to eat things like yogurt and cheese.

mine did something similar. It was really weird how quickly she outgrew it.
I have a lifelong food allergy and did the MSPI thing with dd2. It's hard. Hugs.

I'm sorry.
DD2 was MSPI. Moved to s borderline milk allergy at 2 and then transitioned to lactose intolerance now at 4.5. Her reactions mostly are skin outbreaks and rashes now. It's so much easier to manage. It's been a long slow process, but it's improving.
DS was MSPI and outgrew it at 17 months with no other issues.

Her reactions seem to be mspi - slimy stool, spitup/reflux, fussiness, diaper rash where stool was in contact. The pedi hasn't been interested at all. At the last appointment H pushed for getting answers and got a script for a blood test. Honestly I've been dragging my feet on it because I wasn't sure if a blood test would even be accurate since she hasn't had the foods in 6 months, but I wasn't at this visit to ask anything.
The challenge was actually an accident. She got a cracker with a seasoning mix on it and licked it. I checked the package and it contained whey powder. There weren't any other unusual ingredients.
I'm glad your ds is making progress. Yeah, the social aspect of food makes it so complicated.

Aww, I'm sorry. I'd definitely do some allergy testing at this point to try and determine if it is also an IGE allergy or mspi. Especially because if it is mspi and not an IGE allergy you may he able to help her outgrow it through small exposure. This works for IGE allergies too (it's basically what we are doing with J) but it's trickier since there is technically the risk of anaphylaxis etc. So you would need to work under the guidance of an allergist.

Good luck! I know how frustrating all of it is.
I will have H go ahead and do the blood test with her. Thanks for the insight, because I obviously have no plan and I feel bad because I feel like I should know more. But everything I know about mspi is from here and blogs.
Hugs, we went through nearly 2 years of failed mspi challenges and then magically she just passed shortly before turning 2. I know it sucks so much but I will keep my fingers crossed for you both!

We did a skin test on DD and it was all negative. The first thing she could handle was baked dairy (waffles, etc) so we did those a little at a time and eventually added other things
