Anyone have the LATT or Mammut toddler table and chairs from Ikea? My parents want to get C something for his "half birthday" this week (he's 1.5). We mentioned the possibility of a table and chairs, since he seems to enjoy eating his snack at them, and will probably enjoy arts and crafts too. We just can't pick between the two.
And if you have the Mammut, would you recommend the stools or the chairs? One of each? C LOVES to climb on stuff so I'm a little worried if we go with chairs, we'll constantly have to keep him from climbing on them and tipping them over....
LATT chairs are not that durable. Only kids can sit on them. And probably not for Long. We bought the Latt set and ended up going back and getting the Kritter chairs. It's nice to be able to sit with them. And since my kid is 45lbs and isn't even 4, and still loves her table, she needs the Kritter.
But overall, a small table is an amazing gift. We got it when she was just under 1 and she has used it every day for 3 years. ETA the reason we had to go back was the LATt chair broke

We have the LATT. I modpodged fabric onto the table top and seats of the chairs (not on the shiny white side, but the cardboardish side) and painted the wood. Three years and another kid later, it has held up perfectly. I can't remember if I used the outdoor or the furniture modpodge, but it was one of the heavy duty ones.

Good to know about the Latt chairs! The Kritter looks a little taller than we were going for...but I guess that might give him room to grow?
Yes, I think it's a great gift for a little kid. He doesn't need any more toys. I love when the grandparents offer to buy stuff we want :-)

I have recovered the top a few times with shelf liner.

I have the kritter table and chairs and a couple of mammut stools as well (that we use with a lack coffee table made into a Lego table). The surface of the kritter table crazed a little bit a long time ago in a spot where DD left something wet sitting on it for hours, but other than that it's been sturdy and easy to clean. The mammut stools are nice because they tuck neatly under a table or in a corner and are lightweight. I would recommend any of these pieces.
We have the Sundvik table in black and Kritter chairs. I really like the table but wish I would have gotten different chairs. They're durable and nice but have a plastic piece on the back that I'm not a fan of.

Fun! Maybe I'll do that.
We have the LATT, and I'm very pleased with it, especially the price. I can see how the chairs might not hold up forever, but I'm looking at this as something she'll enjoy for a couple years, and I'm certain it can hold up for that (now that I know to stop sitting on the chairs).
My parents bought her a much nicer table and chairs set, too, but it's way too tall (I didn't read the dimensions before signing off on my mom's suggestion), so we've tucked it away for when she outgrows the LATT.
The Ikea tent that looks like a castle is fun too. That thing has been going strong for almost 2 years with no signs of slowing down.
We just got this for DS and he loves it.
We also have the Kritter table. It was DD's. She used it until she was in Kindergarten-ish. She was already a little too big for it then, but still squeezed herself into the chairs. DS sometimes sits there, but mainly just likes to use the surface to race cars on for about 2 minutes at a time and then he chases them across the room. Nonetheless, if we didn't have a table at all, I would want one for a toddler.

We have the Mammut with two chairs.
After a year, the top bubbled so stuff sometimes slides off, but other than that its been fine. We had to remove the chairs because DD2 uses them to climb over the baby gate.
We have the LATT and I painted it pink. It's held up really well! I think we've had it about 18 months now? DH even sits in the chairs and so do I and my mom. Very big fan!

We have the latt that we got maybe 8 months ago. It gets used EVERY DAY pretty roughly. Meals, coloring, messes. Held up great. I sit on the chairs with no problem but I'm only 5'1.
