I got the bill for mine and it looks like it went toward my hdhp deductible. I vaguely remember that IUDs - including removal - are supposed to be covered by insurance at no cost, like other birth control methods. I know there are a lot of exceptions and loopholes, but any info / experience to share?
I tried googling but couldn't find a clear answer. I do remember my insertion costing me only an office visit copay, but this bill is for almost $200. I paid my gyn over the phone just now, but am unsure if I should press my insurance company on it.

I called - it was quick, surprisingly! Turns out I read the eob wrong and the removal was covered at 100%. My $200 was for the ultrasound to follow up on the cyst issue I had.
Who was the person here who was going to remove it herself? Maybe she has tips! :-)
I think that was @bandwife or iheartbanjos. I forget which. I should have asked for pointers and saved myself $200. Lol
I did, lol. When I was at my annual and we were thinking about TTC #2, but were not quite ready, my midwife told me that they were just going to reach up and yank it out, so if I could reach it to do it myself.
Once I got past the whole reaching up there squeamishness, it was NBD.
