I get to be done with my blood thinning treatment on October 11th! It's been a long three months of blood tests and different doses of warfarin and heavy periods, lol! Thank god!
A PSA for you, even though my dvt was caused by trauma, you should know the warning signs of a blood clot. They are so easy to disregard. I had a cramping feeling in my calf muscle that did not go away, my leg and foot were a deep purple color (I thought it was because of the fracture etc). I had much more swelling in my foot and even my knee. I had to rest often because my calf muscle hurt so bad. And the pain gradually got worse. If you have any of these symptoms, trauma or not go, to the hospital. Especially if you have shortness of breath, call 911!
I'm glad I listened to my body and got it checked out. Who knows what could have happened had I just ignored some pretty major symptoms!
And finally thanks for putting up with my questions and whining. But I know you guys "get it". So thanks for being here for me!
It is so true about knowing the warning signs. Both of my brothers ended up with blood clots after surgery - one had it in his leg, the other it went to his lung. Thankfully, both of them came out of it and are healthier than ever. It has made me probably a little paranoid about twinges in my calf, but you never know.
