I remember the first few days dd1 took her bus to speech. I was a nervous wreck! He will be fine and he will have fun. It is so hard to watch them grow up!
Aww he will have a great time and everything will be fine. I had the same freak out the first time my kids went on a school field trip and of course all of my freaking out was over nothing. You got this.
That will be so exciting! What is it about school buses that amaze kids so much? I would be anxious as well, my first thought would be about him not sitting still.
I feel ya! Last year DD's school did 2 bus field trips & I was a chaperone for both & got to ride the bus with her. This year her school has grown so there was no room on the bus for parents so she rode the bus without me. When I found out parent's weren't allowed I was a bit sad ;-( I understand it's due to space but I was sad anyway. He will have a great time!

I keep waiting for a parent chaperone request but I don't think they're letting parents go. But, I know DS and he'll have more fun without me there. If I'm there he'll just cling to me
Our kids go on the bus and parents have to meet them there. It's crazy how scary it is. I mean 5 point harness in the car and nothing in a bus!
But this last field trip they opted against the highway and took back roads and all the kids could talk about the whole time we were at the field trip was the super fun bus ride haha.

Busses are designed differently, massively big, bright yellow, steel, seats are padded and tall. They work using compartmentalization (think like eggs on a carton.) Kids who are big enough (around 40lbs) and sit properly are very well protected.
(RF for kids under 2 is 5x safer and riding on a bus is 7xsafer than car travel)

The busses my kids rode for preschool were really cool. They had a 5-point harness built into the seats.

I read an article once about the physics behind the safety of buses. It was really interesting. I'll see if I can find it.
ETA: I can't find the specific article, but there's lots of good info if you google it.
