I'm reading I Know This Much is True by Wally Lamb. It popped up for $2 on the kindle daily deals. I'm enjoying it so far. I really wish all kindle books had actual page numbers. This location nonsense is annoying!
I just started Gold Fame Citrus by Claire Vaye Watkins, which is really good so far. Just finished Fate and Furies by Lauren Groff -- I can see why it's getting such critical acclaim, but it wasn't any enjoyable read for me.
QOTW: I have always loved Clue. I am excited for my daughter to be old enough for it. It's still a little out of her league yet.
I started Death by the Glass, it has been on my Nook for a long time. I am trying to go to load purchases and read some of them. I bought them (even if they were cheap) for a reason! I should be reading Quiet for my book club, but I needed (what I hope) is an easy mystery.
QOTW. My DH loves board games and we own a ridiculous number! I like Settlers of Cataan and Carcassone - they are easy favorites. Monthly we have fiends over for game night and we always have to learn something new - some good, some bad.

Sorry, I see posts all the time about long weekends in the US, and now Victoria has one. Grand Final is the Superbowl of Australian Rules Football (affectionately called footy). The state government decided to make the the Friday before game day a public holiday.
I'm reading The Professor and the Madman, which is very interesting so far and I'm only 2 chapters in. I actually own a compact OED and the story of how the dictionary was complied is very intriguing.
QOTW: I love Clue, but I like Trivial Pursuit and Battleship as well.

Football as in soccer? The Friday before a soccer Super Bowl is a national holiday? That's kind of awesome. So did you watch the game? Who won?
I finished Cockroaches byJo Nesbo (good enough to make me want to keep reading this series of books) and have started Prep by Curtis Sittenfeld. I'm about 40 pages in and it's OK, albeit not very exciting. So far it reads like a fairly non-dramatic after school special or an 80s teen book about an awkward girl trying to find her place in a new school.
Fave board games: Lords of the Waterdeep and Settlers of Catan.

No it is more like rugby. It isn't like soccer at all.

frlcb, as I understand it, Aussie Rules is actually closer to Gaelic football than rugby. In fact, there is often a tour where the National Teams of Australia & Ireland play a game that combines both Gaelic & Australian Rules. But most Americans are more familiar with the idea of rugby than Gaelic football. The Australians I know are either AFL fans or Rugby fans, and there are two types of rugby: Rugby Union and Rugby League -- the nuances between the two rugby codes are lost on me.
The West Coast Eagles were playing the Hawthorne Hawks and Hawthorne won their 3rd championship in a row. I did not watch the game -- we watched Star Wars Episode I instead. DH is trying to get me into Star Wars before the newest one comes out in December. I'm watching them, but his mission is a failure. I'm just not really interested.
Sunday is the Rugby Grand Final, and while I won't be watching it either, I'm making a tailgate inspired dinner of chili dogs, french fries, and football cupcakes. And I'll stream whatever US College Football game is on EPSN at the time.

That is true, but in terms of most people knowing what either Aussie Rules or Gaelic football is I figured if you don't know one you don't know the other, so the next closest sport to compare it to that most people would know is rugby. But definitely not soccer
