Usually when I get my birth control pills I usually get a 90 day supply which cost me $60 - which made sense to me, my normal copay for medicines is $20.
Today I went to refill it and asked them to only give me one month and I didn't have a copay. I wish I had known about that years ago!
Anyone have any experience with this? I guess the way the doctor wrote the script called for a 3 month supply - that's what they've always given me, I never specifically requested it.

Mine started being free about a year ago. I was actually the opposite way. I had a doctor that wrote it for only 1 month at a time. When I changed doctors, my new doc asked me if I wanted 3 months at a time so that's what I went with.

I know BCPs were covered under Obamacare but they cost me $60 back in July. Wouldn't they have been free for about a year then? I had asked last year and the pharmacist told me he didn't know much but he knew that some brands were covered and some weren't so I just assumed my brand wasn't. I asked the pharmacist today about why a month was free when 3 wasn't and she didn't know.
Is it the same pharmacy? My BC was free for the last few years because of Obamacare, but my insurance company didn't have a contract with Walgreens (or was having a dispute with them), so when I once tried to switch my rx to them, it was going to cost an outrageous amount, but back at CVS it was still completely free. Maybe your pharmacy recently changed their contract with your insurer?
I have no co-pay on my BCP. This started a year or two ago as part of Obamacare. I only paid $8/month (my insurance won't cover a 3 month supply) but it's still nice not having a cost.
