I cancelled a dentist appt this morning and they couldn't reschedule until the end of the month. I am secretly happy abut this because I hate the dentist.
I finished this hat (along with a few others) yesterday:
The bears grudgingly offered to model them for a few photos. A friend convinced me I should enter these into an art show later this month. Not sure what the heck I'm doing, but at least I'm having fun doing it...
I'm going back to SC today and all I've seen are photos of gators and sharks swimming in the street. Not where I live but in places near us and where I regularly go.
Eek!
I texted my cousin who lives in one of the towns that was on the national news this morning because of the flooding. I still haven't heard anything and I'm getting worried. I hope she is just too busy at work to reply.

Be safe Stan. We had so many gators and snakes after Hurricane Rita.
@crackhabit do we get to see before and after pictures? Pleaseeee?
I found out that one of my male coworkers is a huge Teen Mom fan. I really want to gossip about all of it with him, but I can't because I don't have MTV and I haven't actually watched the shows. I'm going solely based on GBCN recaps and gossip sites. Lol. I feel like a fraud. (The only reason why I mentioned that he is male is because I want yall to know that he isn't one of my crazy cakes coworkers)
We talked to someone this weekend that was using one of the same contractors on their house as was working on the farm house we were supposed to buy from family and then it all fell through. We completely dodged a bullet! They completely gutted the first floor down to the floor boards but there is no way to make it level. Lengthwise, there is a slope of 1 1/2" so everyone doing work is having to retrofit everything.
We also talked to someone else who knows about the remodel job and when the house was added onto in the 1950's, instead of making the old exterior walls into proper interior walls, they left them as is and a lot of them were filled with concrete!
Had my going away lunch today. And my boss's husband made me a peanut butter pie. It's been nice knowing all of you... I am about to go into a diabetic coma. But it was worth it.
I liked Ex Machina too, a lot more than I thought I would. I went to see it only because DH wanted to see it, and was pleasantly surprised.
Have you seen The Martian? We saw that over the weekend and really liked it. ETA omg it's the second line of your post. How did I miss that? I agree that it's worth the extra cost for 3D.
My first random is that DH got an offer today for a job he really wants. We knew there would be no increase in salary going in, but now it looks like there might even be a decrease. It's a position he's wanted for going on two years, and would actually be a less stressful environment than he's in now (going from private corporation to academia). I'm fully on board, because we'll get to see him more, and he'll have a lot less stress. And really, we can afford the decrease. It just seems like going backward in salary is something you don't do. But he's excited, and I'm excited for him.
My other random is that Quincy's best buddy at doggy daycare passed away, and I feel so bad for his family and for Quincy. He's pretty social and has a lot of dog friends, but this guy was his favorite.
We saw Ex Machina over the weekend. Not scary, but I was uncomfortable the whole time. Just kinda creepy.
We also saw The Martian in 3D! Very good! I think I would have been happy with it just in 2D, but it was definitely cool. Love Matt Damon. Jessica Chastain looks so much like a young Gina Davis to me.
I don't really drink caffeine unless I need it. Lately I've been getting decaf iced coffee as a "pick me up" b/c it still has a little caffeine and that gets me going. Well, today I apparently got regular b/c my heart is pounding and I can't focus on anything. Ugh. Never again.
You guys, last Friday was my H's last day at his old job. He's currently upstairs packing his shit to move on Wednesday. One of the moving companies just came and did a walk-through to give us an estimate of the cost to move our household in December.

I think we're totally good. The shark was in Myrtle Beach and the gator was Charleston. Columbia looks like it got hit hard with flooding. We live in between MB and Columbia. A little flooding in town but nothing like those places got.
so that shark picture was real? I chalked it up to photoshop trickery.

Oh gosh, has anyone in the family heard from her?
I dont know. I'll reach out to them after work today if I still haven't heard back. I'm still operating in "no news is good news" mode.
I think I was fatshamed. I was told there were stores for people like me, like Torrid. It's a perfectly valid statement, and I like Torrid, yet I'm still sideyeing the comment.

I'm trying to imagine an instance where that would even be remotely acceptable to say and I can't think of any instances. Sorry you dealt with a douchebag.
Eta: by side eye, I hope you meant punching them in the face.

My ILs keep sending me pictures of the flood. It is not good. They cannot get out of their cul de sac. I just pray it continues to stay out of their house
So devastated for SC. All of the places they keep showing online, are places I know and used to go to. I don't live there now, it it hits harder when you know a place.
You guys, there are so many fucking bulbs in my yard. Like, thousands upon thousands. I'm trying to landscape, but first I have to dig up the bulbs so they don't ruin what I'm trying to do. And then I have to wait until spring so I can see the bulbs I've missed. I tried planting one spot this spring but I'm already finding tons of flowers trying to pop up.
Thanks! He accepted yesterday afternoon and has already started getting congralutory emails from some of the people he knows at this institution, which has made him even more excited.
