I'm replacing the door to the garage so the new electric-collar-activated doggie door will install flush. The replacement door was unfinished pine, so I had the bright idea to stain it this cool turquoise color. It was supposed to look like this:
Instead, the first coat went on so thin and watery you could hardly see it. I tried a second coat, and now it just looks like paint, and not even the color I would prefer. Any suggestions? It's oil-based -- if I wanted to try to do a thin coat of glaze or rub another darker shade on top would I have to stick with an oil-based paint?
yes, I would stick with oil based if you add anything on top. If you end up going to just repaint altogether I would use an oil based primer and then you could switch to any kind of paint for the top coat.
