Omg. My H just showed me a video from my college campus. So there's this guy who usually stands on a busy road here wearing a certain superhero shirt holding an American flag. He's kind of a local celebrity. I guess recently he was standing on campus with a confederate flag and the video is him getting yelled at and then the n word goes flying back and forth. The campus cops come along and basically do nothing. It was kind of hilarious because the campus cops are worthless. All they do is give parking tickets. Anyways, that was a fun thing to watch this early in the morning. Sad thing is there are probably a lot of people that support the flag holding guy around here. He just likes to cause trouble!
estrellita Oh my. Was there any reason he was holding the flag other to incite a bunch of anger?
Our campus had Sombrero Man, this old guy who sat on the sidewalk wearing a sombrero and asking if you had any "change change" suzv Was he still there when you were in school?
HoneySpider probably not. He has this website too I found years ago about why he should be president. I'm pretty sure he's not all there mentally, lol. Weird thing though is he once talked someone down from a bridge so it's not like he's always a bad person. I don't get it. Anyways, in the video he kept saying he was on public property and they couldn't kick him off (his usual excuse in the other place he normally stands). He was kind of getting into it and calmly trying to explain why it was ok for him to say the n word (apparently since he's Lebanese and not "white" it's ok?). It's just messed up, lol.

We had State Street Steve and The Can Man at my school. Just 2 homeless men who roamed the campus and occasionally asked for money.
We finally have tea K-cups at work!!!! I have been asking for a few weeks now since the smell of coffee still turns my stomach. So I am enjoying a hot cup of English Breakfast Tea this morning. YEAH!

Yes! He also carried around a framed picture of himself.
rockinrobyn we had a can guy too! He had one arm and a cart he'd push around collecting cans right out of our recycling!
We also had rollerblading guy. He would rollerblade through campus really fast, weaving in and out of the crowds. It was kind of annoying but he was good at it, lol. I think I only heard of him wiping out or running into something a few times.

I think I need to break out my hot water kettle. Mornings are getting cold, and it's still going to drop another 50+ degrees before it's true winter. Brrr. Also, damn. I so hate cold.
I'm worried about depression this winter. I'm already struggling with anger issues because of the stress I'm dealing with. I'm tored and lack motivation every night. I'm pre-emptively scared for it to get worse
Hugs amaranth, I know exactly how you feel. Please get help if you think it's getting worse! I know you probably can't do meds but a doctor should be able to help you figure something out!
Do you ever just feel stuck in your job? That's how I'm feeling today. The department favorite is doing training today. I don't know what it's about, but it's yet another reminder that she has gotten to do everything I have wanted to do. She was the first to start training in this department and got to travel. I was dying to travel! I need to find another department to look at where I can actually have some opportunities but idk where to look. I don't want to be on the phone and I don't want to work nights and weekends. I'm just frustrated today. Not to mention what happened to H yesterday. He had asked his boss for a raise and was shot down because upper management won't do it. A week or less later, they take away his best rep (as in where H makes most of his commission) and gave him someone new. I'm so pissed. Wtf is wrong with this world? Ugh.
There is a big special project at work that lots of people are working on. They meet in the conference room down the hall. Half they time they're cackling down there so loud I have to shut my door to get work done.
estrellita unfortunately I think feeling stuck is a common job problem. It sucks and some days it is worse than others.
I can't remember the name of the guy we had on our campus... He was a townie (local) who probably had a drinking problem and would attend the parties on campus. I was a nerd and not a big partier so I didn't meet him until the last week of senior year when he was randomly wandering near my house in the middle of the day.
I am really upset today. I am home with DS because he is sick again. We have been struggling w a lot of health problems w DS. I thought they were getting better....I had so much faith but we had a setback today. Just trying to hold it together.
melsamoony yeah that's true. My company always brags about being so good about moving people up so I think that's where my frustration is coming from. What they say and what they do is only the same if you're their favorite.
And *hugs* I hope things get better with him soon!
There's a viral video of a drunk student at my college (UConn) who got arrested because he was belligerent at a dining hall. He was demanding mac and cheese. It's funny but also kind of scary to watch because he was starting to get violent.
I had an interview this morning, wahoo. It went SO great. Now heading into work all day. FIL comes late tonight so I have a bit of cleaning to do after work prior to his arrival
((hugs)) amaranthestrellitamelsamoony. Hope life starts looking up for everyone soon. melsamoony- praying for your son and his health. Sorry things have been so rough for you guys.
amaranth, maybe a vitamin d supplement would help?
estrellita, I feel stuck too. I keep asking and applying for a transfer within my floor (from nursery to L&D) and nothing is happening. I think it's because I need to stay on day shift (honestly, for health reasons more than anything... I do NOT sleep during the day and neither does E) and they always promote night shift L&D when a hole opens on days.
The name of the guy on my campus is Bart. He is a veteran, runs a lot, and hangs sideways on light poles at intersections. He's super nice. I would chat with him at the student center if one of my organizations had a booth or something.
pooh8402 I wouldn't want to work nights for the same reason. I feel like it's too hard for me to sleep during the day, especially with a kid now! Hope you're able to transfer soon!
Our dog went in this morning for teeth cleaning and hip xrays. He has congenital hip dysplasia that was diagnosed when he was about a year old. (His ancestors had perfect hips up to 5 generations on both sides of his family, total fluke) He's now 8, and his hips are basically gone. There's nothing to be done for them except total hip replacement, which would be $3500-5000 each side. So we're going to manage pain/symptoms instead.
Poor puppy. He is such a good dog, total people pleaser, and he so rarely showed signs that he had any issues. We've noticed that he is slower to get up and down, but sometimes, he acts like he is still a puppy and would jump on the bed no problem. Ugh. Instead, he was probably hurting and not showing us.
So I was at home, and DH walked in and just broke down. I was like, omg, is Murphy okay? Where is he? DH pointed at the dog, who was drinking water. Whew, ok. He scared me.
