I know Twin Cities was the big one, but are any of you doing other races this fall?
I had a pretty dismal September for mileage, but I'm doing better and feeling better this month - so far. Doing a race (easy) sounds fun at the moment, and I'm trying to decide if it's worth it to try for a longer race like 10K or 10 mile. I really don't think a half is going to happen.
I'll hope to do a few area 5Ks this fall and winter, but I'm not finding much for 10K. Do you know of any? How about 10 miles besides Monster Dash? Monster Dash is still a possibility, but I don't know if I'm quite in shape for it.
Now that I'm looking I do see a fair amount of 10Ks in MSP area through the fall/winter.
What are you ladies planning to run yet this year? I think I would be way more apt to drive down for a 5K/10K if it was also a GTG. Would anyone be interested in picking a smaller weekend race in late Oct/ November sometime?
I don't have any races left on the calendar for this year. I tried looking for some suggestions but the ones I found have already been covered here.
I signed up for the MDRA today and I think they'll send a calendar with my packet and info. If there are any good ones, I'll post those.
I'd love an excuse for a gtg, but I'm out on Thanksgiving Day. I host so I'll be busy all morning. If you guys sign up for something else let me know. Or I might be able to come and cheer at the Monster Dash.
How is Saturday, Nov 14th? Jingle Bell run @ the state fair grounds? @mn06 & jene. Maybe breannie ?
It seems like at least it would be easy to get to & lots of parking! Not sure if they do awards or even chip time though -- I don't see a lot of actual race info on the website.
I'll keep looking for races on that or a different day if you guys would like to try & meet up. If you don't I promise not to feel bad though. I can search out a local 5K too. Lately I just need some sort of reason to keep attempting to run, and I'm hoping even a short/small race might do the trick.
jene - are you thinking the Nov 14? Or did you also think Nov 28 (Saturday after Thanksgiving) is a possibility? Or are we brave enough to look even later in December?
I should be pretty flexible both months, but I don't want to twist anybody's arm!
I'm in for anything except Thanksgiving Day. The November 14th Jingle Bell Run is fine with me.
Otherwise everything is mostly 5ks: 11/8: Chocoholic Frolic 5k, 10k, St. Paul 11/8: Veterans Day USA 5k, Como Lake, St. Paul 11/14: Jingle Bell Run 5k, State Fair Grounds, St. Paul 11/14: Selfie 5k, Burnsville <-- ok, probably not but I couldn't believe there's a "selfie" run. I should also say I didn't click the website either so I don't know anymore than the name. Lol 12/5: Jingle Bear 5k, White Bear Lake 12/5: MN Brewery Series - Winter Beer Dash 5k, Minneapolis 12/5: Red Flannel 5k, St. Paul 12/6: Ugly Sweater Dash 5k, St. Louis Park 12/12: Reindeer Run 5k, Minneapolis
Eta: 12/6 is my birthday so anything that weekend would be an extra special gtg!
Lol to the Selfie 5K. I think jene said she can't the weekend of the 5th, but yay for your birthday! My birthday was a Saturday this year, and I hunted down a race for the occasion.
It looks like several of the holiday ones either aren't chip timed or it's not listed. Is that important to you guys? Sundays don't work very well for me (the Nov 8th races). Otherwise I'm fine with any. I feel like this is getting long. Maybe we need a poll? Or should we see how the next few weeks go weather/schedule-wise and make a decision a little later?
