I would try changing brands. I really like acuvue 2 weeks. Do you have monthly contacts? Try changing to bi-weekly? Or even daily but that shit is expensive.

I have been having the same problem for the past few months. At first I thought it was because I wasn't changing them out regularly. But then it happened with new contacts, too.
I am too cheap to try new contacts right now because I have a box for each eye still sitting in my bathroom waiting to be used.
I plan to talk to the optometrist when I go to renew my prescription and see if I can try a different brand before I look at drops or anything.

are you pregnant? I couldn't wear contacts for most of my first pregnancy, and as soon as I wasn't pregnant I could wear them again no problem. Sounds weird but my OB assured me that it happens
I have worn contacts since the 7th grade and last year I had similar issues. I went to the eye doctor, because I had a bump on my eye and she said that I was wearing my lenses too much (I basically wore them from the time I woke up until I went to bed) and it was causing irritation. She gave me some super thick lubricating drops and now I just take them out when I get home for the night, instead of leaving them in until bedtime. It's helped a lot.
I got a corneal ulcer from wearing contacts for about 8 years. I had those 24 hour/toss the next day ones. I'd talk to the doc, I went blind in my left eye and had your symptoms. My eyes were irritated for months before literally within 12 hours my vision just went kapoot.
Not trying to freak you out, I'm obviously a bizarre case, just stressing that seeing the optometrist is important.
I had the same problem and switched to a daily lens. Problem solved. My eyes became sensitive to the cleaning solution - since you get to throw the dailies out at the end of every day, it's no longer an issue. Maybe see if you can get some dailies samples from your optometrist?

i have really jacked up eyes, but my suggestions are to change brands, change cleaning solution, and if you're having dry eye irritation symptoms, ask your dr about punctal plugs.
for me, i can't use any solution other than clear care (or a generic) - the kind with the titanium disk/special case that fizzes overnight. everything else, my eyes have an allergic reaction to or reject, and according to my dr it's the preservatives in them.
I had the same problem, and finally quit wearing them. I went to try to wear them again and my dr. advised against it until I did drops 3x a day for 3 months and came back for another appointment. Well my insurance isn't great so I was too cheap for repeat appointment and the drops, so I still wear my glasses.
Do you have allergies? I always have more problems with my contacts in the spring and fall because there is so much pollen in the air. My we doctor suggested either switching to daily contacts during those seasons or changing my 2 week contacts more often.

another suggestion: you might need to change brands because of the material the lens is made out of. my eyes reject the ones that have a high silicone content (maybe my dr is full of shit? i don't know). so maybe ask about that too?
I had the same issue and it progressively got worse. It got to the point that I could only tolerate my contacts for one to two hours max, so I just started wearing glasses all the time. I wore glasses for about a year and then did Lasik. My eyes were slightly dry - enough to make my contacts really uncomfortable, but they weren't so dry that I couldn't do Lasik.
Try clear care solution. Changed my life for real. I used to always have to mess with my contacts and take them out and rinse them. Once I switched to clear care I wa able to start wearing them all day without having to rinse them or apply eye drops.
I do find that my contacts aren't as easy to use when I have a cold or my allergies flare up.
I got micro abrasions on my cornea and the opthamologist said he'd seen several patients with the same issue that used Opti-Free solution and Oasys contacts. Once it cleared up (4 weeks no contacts) I switched solutions. Different solutions have different pH and affect lenses differently. Might be worth trying a new solution too. I think I use Renue Clear now. It is a clear bottle by Renue at least.
