I got a promotion yesterday! What sucks is another team member feels entitled to a promotion, so my director needs to figure out "the messaging" of my promotion. It's not going to go over well with that guy, and I'm dreading it, especially since I need to hand off a task to him (which was happening anyway, pre-promotion).
Also, I have another cold and it's pouring rain. Slept from 10 pm to 9 am. Pre-kid, I would just veg with Netflix all day. Sigh.
DH and I had a drunken fight last night about who is the default parent (we both consider ourselves) thanks to an article in The Atlantic.
I am still SHOCKED that he considers himself the default parent.
I guarantee this would also occur if I brought it up.
I honestly think we have a pretty equal division of parenting and parenting tasks. But for some reason it hurt my feelings that he considers himself the default- like he was calling me a bad mother. But even that is probably a weird gendered expectation that women SHOULD be the default parent. He does have the more flexible career since he owns his own business. I don't know, it's complicated and we were drunk which doesn't help.

Yay but weird.
The guy really needs to find a new job for his own good. He does his job fine, but his attitude is not great and does not fit what's needed in a senior role. Our group is understaffed right now, but that's rapidly changing with four new team members coming on in the next few weeks, so he won't be as needed as he is right now...
We bought all of our meat for the month at Costco this morning and we are making freezer meals for dinner for next month. It has been so nice to do minimal cooking that we decided to take advantage of my sister being here and get some stuff done that will make life easier for thr next few weeks. These are so easy and we are changing up the sides so we aren't tired of these entrees yet. Dinners: -bolognese -ground beef taco meat -gyros flavored ground beef -sausage & peppers -bbq pork -ground beef (will heat and make korean beef)
Lunch (will cook on Sundays) -chicken Apple sausage -whole chicken -ground turkey for turkey cranberry orange meatballs
I was browsing the collection last night, and decided Kirklette would have a ball at the event. I'm sending out the bat signal in case any of your girls are interested, and have a W-S near by.
Pretty good morning so far! H took C to Lowe's for a workshop and P and I took a two hour nap together in the glider.
H left to go to an OOT football game so the ILs are watching the kids while I go get my hair cut and run errands. C is napping and P is happily rolling around the living room terrorizing the kitties right now.
My mom is coming over in an hour to go to the fabric store with me. I'm going to make black out curtains for C's room with her (and Pinterest's) help. I feel so domestic!
I had grand plans to clean out our coat closet while C napped, but quickly realized that 90% of what needs to be decided on is H's and requires his presence. Boo. This was my last weekly goal item!

We had so much fun at the orchard! And it was a really pretty drive. M is now reading in his crib and yelling that he isn't going to nap...I hope he crashes soon.

Wtf something is killing my phone battery today. In the 40 minutes since I unplugged it, it has dropped 35%.. I've just been on here & Facebook and all extra apps are closed.

What is this that you speak of? Off to check it out!

Gym, yummy breakfast at a new place, park and walk this morning. After M's nap we are hitting up the little carnival that is in town and dinner with some friends. I finally did M's thank you cards from his party. My excuse was I ordered them so was waiting for them to come. No one needs to know they came almost 2 weeks ago.
My child who smiles 24 hours a day...even in his sleep...could not muster a single smile during our photos this morning. Boo.
We also had the default parent argument last weekend. It was stupid because we both do a lot. We both felt underappreciated.
I bought a Lillebaby carrier (citrus embossed...wanted navy, but it's not available until December) this morning, and I'm excited to get it!
We are now watching Dirty Jobs while J naps and I just told H that I want to do Dirty Things with Mike Rowe. Yum.
I would really like one night away at a hotel with just me, a good book and a nice pool. I will have a hotel room to myself for three days next week, but it involves working 15-hour days at a conference.
My birthday party is tonight and DD was supposed to be with a sitter at my mom's house while she was at a party. Yea, sitter just canceled. So annoyed! Trying a back up sitter now but she might just be upstairs with the iPad

I don't know why I thought bringing a toddler to a funeral was a good idea. I thought my grandmother would be there since it was her sister, but she's fighting off pneumonia and couldn't make the trip. Very sad, as it was her sister, but she saw her a couple of days before she died, so that's good. J was ok-ish, but I wore him though the funeral service and he kept smacking me in the face. He also wasn't a fan of all the sitting. Now for the 5 hour drive home. At least he's sleeping(because he didn't sleep last night!) Remind me to not stay in a hotel with a toddler ever again.
