C is almost 10 months old and I have been dream feeding since 4 months. He's consistently sleeping 12 hours right now, sometimes more (he's not a great napper...2 hr/day total between 2 naps on a good day). Anyways, I've been wanting to night wean him and got the ok at his 9 month apt since his pedi is finally happy with his weight.
But, I'm hesitant because why mess with a good thing!?! Last night was encouraging though...he only ate for 5 min, which never happens (usually I'm in there a minimum of 10 min and up to 30 min), and he still slept til normal time. I'm thinking of not feeding him tonight and seeing how it goes. I guess worst case is that it doesn't go well and I can KOKO for a little longer with the dream feed.
So, should I just let him CIO if he wakes before 6:00a (that's the time I'm ok being up for the day)? He has woken up around 4a in the past and usually falls back to sleep within a couple minutes so I'm hoping this will be a non-issue.
Any words of wisdom from those who have been there done that? How many days can I anticipate having night wakings before STTN?
DS sleeps 8 to 7 plus 2-2.5 hours total of naps. But he still wakes 3 times including a dream feed. So I guess I'm just here to say I'm jealous and my gut is that you have a good thing going, don't mess with it. But I'm obviously not a baby sleep whisperer, so...
Thing is that 5mins could actually be enough for him to get a good amount of food, especially now that's he's an older baby. I hate to advise a parents to mess with what's working. Also, dunno how teething or illness has gone for you, but IME there are enough other variables to screw with wake ups that any "progress" we make gets interrupted in enough time.

Honestly, I'd do whatever gets everybody in the house the most sleep. Signed, I night nursed until I weaned at 15 months bc it was the path of least resistance
When are you feeding him? Are you waking him to eat or is he waking?
DD still wakes up sometimes around 4am and I feed her so she will go back to sleep. I should not be giving advice haha
see that's my fear. At least I know when I will be up and have more control of it this way.
He's in bed around 6:30 and I dream feed at 10:30. I usually go to bed between 8-9, wake up to feed at 10:30 (I wake him...he is almost never awake except sometimes due to teeth...at least I think), and sleep 11-5 and he's up around 6-6:45ish. I guess we need to KOKO...I was just hoping to somehow get more than a 6 hr stretch of sleep (I really enjoy my 1 hr before he wakes up...I guess I could give that up but I don't really sleep that great since DH is usuay up for work).
If he isn't waking on his own, I would probably skip the dream feed and see how it goes. He may surprise you and sleep right through.
We went through a stretch when DD1 was a little younger than that and would wake around 3 or 4 AM. I would nurse her and she'd go right back to sleep. She was going to bed at 7:00 so I figured she was hungry; I didn't see the need to have her CIO in the middle of the night if she was sleeping for such a long stretch anyway.
When I stopped dream feeding it was no big deal. I think the first night she woke up and cried for a min then went right back down. After that she just sttn and didn't miss the feeding. Hopefully it is that easy for you.
