We bought a Marathon for DD. It seems like she is only an inch and a half away from the shoulder height line...she is 90% percentile for height and is very long in the torso...does this means she will grow out of these seat more quickly???
Kids gain about an inch per year of torso height, so I would guess she has about 1-1.5 years left, depending on growth spurts. If she has a long torso and is younger than 4.5/5, I would probably return the Marathon and get a Sureride, Pioneer, or Frontier. (I think she is FFing, right?) I would hate to run out of room before she is ready for a booster.
She is rear facing, only 18m old. Does that shoulder height line matter for FF or only RFing?

Check the manual/call Britax - for most seats, there is no shoulder height limit for RFing because the straps should be at or below their shoulders. Usually the limiting factor for RFing is their head getting to be one inch from the top of the shell (not sure whether your Britax seat specifies 1" from the top of the main shell or the headrest - it varies between their different models). But I think Britax lists a seated-shoulder height limit for both RFing and FFing on their website - but double-check me. In any case, it would truly suck if she hit that shoulder line at 3ish years old and outgrew the seat FFing and you had to buy another spendy seat.
I think the Marathon might not be the best choice for you with a tall/long-torsoed kid. There have been people on here whose tall kids have outgrown them before booster age. I think the ClickTight Boulevard and Advocate have higher limits for both seated shoulder height and seated height overall (but the Marathon ClicktTight is still short).
If you can fit a Sureride RFing (it will take up a lot of room), then that would be the longest-lasting option. Otherwise, look for a seat with top slots that are 17" or higher.
If you measure her torso from bum to shoulder against a wall, how tall is it?
Ok, I am going to try to return one of the two Marathons because I am 100% sure I can't return the one we already took out of the box. I am praying that they let me return the one that hasn't been touched. We will use the Marathon with her until DS grows out of his infant seat (he has 2.5 inches to go) and then he will go in the Marathon and she can go into something new. I think that something new will be an Evenflo based on a quick google.

I would recommend joining Car Seats for the Littles on Facebook and posting your question there. They can be kind of crazy at times, but are great at suggesting which seat is best for different situations. I would guess you would get a helpful answer very quickly and save yourself a lot of trial and error.
Ha! 13 inches would give you a lot of time in most seats.
I would think. And I looked at her today in the car seat and I feel like there is plenty of room. Before she hits that line. Worst case scenario she is stuck RF forever, lol, it will take her a while to get to 40lbs.

Was she a lot taller than my Dd at the gtg? I don't remember thinking she was but N is only in the 14% for height. I feel like we still have a long time in the marathon rear facing. I need to measure her back, I guess.

Not sure about the GTG but when I saw her at drop in she was taller. She just came in as 90% for height on Friday, bit of a spurt.

Right, I forgot you have seen her more recently. Dd is definitely small, tomorrow she will be in the same pumpkin pie shirt that she wore last Thanksgiving. (Size 6-12 months lol). I guess I'll get my money's worth of clothes and car seats.

Aw, that's cute though!! E is tough for clothes - long but lean. She's in 18-24 stuff and 2t.
