My husband just basically told my ILs our son doesn't need anything for his first birthday--- please help me come up with ideas. We do have a lot of toys since we have a 2 year old girl but I think he needs some of his own stuff. His birthday and Christmas are the same week so I don't want a ton of junk but I already feel bad for this second child situation.
I'm in the same boat, I have a boy and a girl and we own a lot of things.
It is hard, but I will say as they get older it gets easier. DS will be 2 in February and just in the last month he's really come into is own personality and I'm starting to think of things he would love his sister didn't.
They're also starting to fight like crazy over beloved toys, so I'm asking for doubles of certain things.
For DSs first birthday we got him a replica toy tractor of a real one he own and then dumped money his savings. He didn't know the difference.
Any collections you can add too? My kids love Schleich animals and cars/machinery on a mini scale so we always add to that. Books are always good. DS always needs clothes. Boy clothes just aren't as cute so no one buys them like they do for DD.
We have a mini indoor bounce on DSs Christmas list (It's like 37.00 on amazon) as well as a sleeping bag to match his sister's and some new puzzles.
We are asking for a train for our daughter's birthday so I was think he could easily get more train pieces to accompany her set. I was looking at the wheelie car little people stuff and some construction vehicles too. We have lots of regular little people and he already has quite the attachment for Tiana from the little people princess collection Lol
We always need clothes but no one wants to buy boys clothes like they do girls stuff!!

We have 2ds' age 1&3. Ds2 for his bday got an anywhere chair. He also loves the cozy couple and ds1s lil quad power wheels. I would ask for things u want for both of them. We got a teeter totter, an easel, a bunch of go go smart wheels.

I was in the same boat, my kids are 19 months apart - older DD, and DS is a Christmas baby. It's really hard to think of presents! This is the list I sent my sister for first birthday ideas, DS loves all of them:
toy tool bench Fisher price little people city skywalk - this is awesome Vtech smart shots sports center Tent Toy guitar Balls Cars
My ILs got DS a little pull-wagon type toy to put his books in, by P'kolino. I can't remember the other options we gave them.
The rest of my family got him clothes or random toys they came up with on their own.
We got him a rocking owl (like a rocking horse, but an owl) and a soft world atlas with little Velcro animals for different parts of the world. Oh, and V-tech airplane that sings in French.
