The CDC says it's okay to be given to those around immunocomprosied individuals but since you are about to have a newborn this week I would probably error on the side of caution and get the shot unless there is a compelling reason to avoid the shot.
I did a shot for all the kids whenever I had a baby that was to young to get the mist. Now that they're all older, the baby still gets the shot because of his RAD/Asthma. The other two got the mist.

Shot. DS had the mist for the first time this year, and he got really sick (cough, runny nose, fever, sore throat) for 4 days immediately afterwards. He's never gotten sick from the shot.

We did shot since DS used the nebulizer within the past year. I hear it us more effective because it builds antibodies in the nose where the virus typically enters. DS didn't even cry overy the shot I was impressed. We took him with us to get our shots the same day, I think that helped

We all got the flu mist last year. It was awesome. I've heard there's a shortage of it this year though. We all are getting whatever is available on Wednesday.

Pedi said something about mist being better for a certain age. DS got it last year, so 2.5-7? Or something like that. We're going tomorrow but sounds like he might be getting a shot after all.
Your pedi would probably caution against it because you're going to have a newborn in the home any day. I believe with the mist you're actually slightly contagious within close proximity. I'm not eligible for the mist, so no one in my home should get it, either.
