Right now he has an espresso Hemnes dresser from Ikea, an espresso leather armchair, a low white bookcase (not pictured below, as it's newer), white crib, brightly colored accents.
I'm debating between a white twin bed and an espresso colored bed.
Thoughts?
I like how white brightens the room up, but would he still be happy with a white bed when he's 12? Or a teen? I was set on both light and dark furniture in the nursery, but am unsure if white might be a bit feminine as he gets older? I know over the years we MAY replace furniture, but I would rather aim for something that would last him through his childhood, if possible.
Below are photos of his room. Mostly taken before the white bookcase was placed beneath his windows. And that rug is removed in warmer months, then replaced in winter.
I may buy more of the elephant fabric to make a bed skirt for the twin bed, then do solid colored bedding. The crib sheet was made by an Etsy seller who can make a few fitted sheets in twin size for us. How long do you think we can keep this bright travel / animal theme up?
h - that's the bookcase we have in DS's room, if it's Ikea.
I love that you have it next to the dark armchair with lime and orange, because that's so similar to our color scheme! It looks like when he's ready we can move out the animal accents (fabric) and bring in stronger colors like navy and red.
Love what colors! I really appreciate the pics! Definitely learning toward a white bed now. SO helpful!
This is while we were still unpacking, so excuse the mess:
J has a grey crib, white Expedit, white malm dresser, and a big white coffee table turned play table. Oh, and a white expedit changing table. I think it's fine for a boy. I also don't expect these pieces to necessarily last him through high school though. At some point I'd like to switch to solid wood furniture.

Yup, the bookcases and dressers are all Ikea. DS2's room has a lot of red and navy, too. He has the same white Ikea Expedit bookcase but in a bigger size, the same red Ikea dressers, gray distressed wood bunk beds, gray walls, and the Pottery Barn madras bedding. He is 5 yo and all his art is superhero stuff, and I think the white pieces still work fine even with his bigger kid things.
I will try to take a pic later. He had a friend spend the night (they're out I school today), and his room is too trashed to photograph right now.
FWIW, while I like white furniture fine in boys' room (obviously) if your goal is to by a bed that will last until he goes to college, I would probably do a wood tone or something like navy. If your goal is to get something that works for the next 5-10 years, I think white is fine.

I don't have pics but we have white furniture and I never thought anything of it. I don't think it looks feminine at all. The crib is a convertible Graco one, one of the more simple designs. The dresser is from Ikea and also pretty simple looking. Walls are blue with white wainscoting. Trim is brown, just what was here when we moved in, though someday I might want to paint it white.

Here's DS' room. We reused DD's white crib and the small table, so I got a white dresser as well. Never thought twice about it, but I have white furniture in all my bedrooms, so it's obviously my preference.
Sorry for the crappy pic. DS2's room has a white crib, white Trofast storage set from Ikea, and a white dresser. We recently finished the board and batten on the walls so now all the white furniture clashes but we plan to replace all but the Trofast system when his new bed arrives on Friday. The top of the wall is navy blue, if you can tell from the pic.

We were team green, so the furniture is all white. C has a white dresser, crib (toddler bed now), ikea bookshelf and floating shelf. I don't want to purchase new furniture throughout so he will most likely get a white platform bed (the sleigh bed really doesn't scream boy, so i won't do it). If we have another, I will move all of the furniture to the new baby's nursery and buy him new... big IF.
We had all white stuff in the nursery & I loved it. When it came time to find a bed for DS1, I went with wood. I don't plan to buy another bed for him, and couldn't imagine a 16 year old boy thrilled with a white bed. I don't think it's too feminine, but I do feel like it's kind of juvenile, especially if it's a twin bed.

We considered white for DSs room but decided against it because I was worried that at 15-16 he would feel it was feminine. I love white furniture but don't think of it as masculine. We ended up getting navy and absolutely love it.
