My mirena appointment is tomorrow. Unfortunately, my child care for dd2 has fallen through and I don't think I can find something else on such short notice. I'm thinking I need to reschedule, right? Bringing a 2 year old would be a disaster, right?
I've never had an iud before, so I don't really know what to expect from the appointment but I'm sure it won't be fun!
My most recent IUD insertion took under 3 minutes of actual doctor time--it was really fast. I had DD with me (but she was an infant in a bucket seat). You might be fine if you can strap your daughter into a stroller or something for the few minutes during the actual insertion.

I would reschedule. I just had mine done a few weeks ago, and while insertion was quick, they have you lay there a while. Which was good for me becuase I had a ton of cramping at insertion and got lightheaded for a bit. They made me lay there for almost 30 minutes. Was fine after but would have been hard with my kids there.

Ugh, I hope that isn't the case! I'll have ds (8 weeks) with me no matter what, and he does not just sit for 30 minutes. Ever. I just asked a random cousin that I see maybe 2x a year. If she can't watch dd2, I'll reschedule. Gosh I miss when dd2 was in daycare!

I was in and out in 5 mins once the doc for to my room. No longer than a quick pelvic exam and I left immediately after. I'd prob risk it with an iPad or something!

Ha yea, my baby would have been ok but my toddler, hell no. I do think I had a hard time because I hadn't eaten anything and I forgot to take the ibprofen they recommended before hand to help with the cramping.
Take some ibuprofen before you go! My dr. said it would minimize downtime after and I think he was right.
I was in and out in about two minutes. I'd chance it with my kids but I know they're decent "sitters" and I also know in my clinic a nurse would be happy to assist. You know your crowd!

It would be better to reschedule, but if you can't, I'm sure it won't be the first time your OB's office has seen someone there with two kids.
If I had to, I could strap my (very active) 2 year old into a stroller, set up Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on a portable TV/phone within eyeshot, give her a muchkin cup of skittles, and she'd more than likely behave.
