I'd go almost anywhere (not active war zones) if the trip was paid for. That said, I wouldn't personally take on the cost to visit China or Antarctica. I'd probably not be too interested in the Middle East either, but I love their food so who knows.
After visiting Turkey & Egypt (which were fabulous), I may not do another similar country. We felt that both had amazing historic sites, but wouldn't want to take the same type of trip in the future.
I am NOT a cold weather fan so all bitter cold places are ruled out.
I have had zero interest in going to Mexico. I feel I could come up with so many places to go before I'd want to go to Mexico.

Any place that is below 60' year round. Any place that would require me to either sleep outside or use netting around the bed. Any of the places that Alyssa listed, with the exception of China.

I was cool with Mexico until we were pulled over by a cop in Tijuana and robbed. I have no desire to go there. Being in California, we border that country, but I'm 110% done with it.

Yeah, you just added a reason for me to never want to go there.

It was nightmarish.
We were driving north from Ensenada and I was at a red light and this cop and his partner took a piece of rope and a cone and roped off the on-ramp to the hwy to get back to San Diego. They detoured a group of us to some side streets where we got lost. Right then and there he was on us. My immediate thought was he was going to help us find our way to the border...silly me. Instead I got pulled over and he said I was going UNDER the speed limit, how is that possible? The cop said he wanted $200 or he would take my friends and I down to the station. We had a plane to catch out of San Diego in a couple hours and we were scared of going to a Tijuana police station. We had a little over $100 in cash between my friends and I which he put in his pocket and then he pointed the way to get back to the border and drove off. It was a total set-up. Ever since then I have refused to step foot in Mexico.
Sorry, lurker chiming in to stand up for Mexico. It's a HUGE country. I'm sorry Alyssa had a bad experience in a town that's known for being seedy but there's a lot more to Mexico and a lot of it is positive. I spent three weeks in central Mexico in college and it was one of the happiest times of my life. I stayed with a loving and kind family, I went to a wonderful school, I had excellent food and historical/cultural experiences, and the locals, as a general rule, couldn't have been friendlier. I had to cross several busy streets to walk to school and no joke, I never had to wait on the sidewalk for more than a few seconds before traffic stopped to let me pass. That would never happen in NoVA where I live. You'd get run over before anyone would stop for you to cross the road.
I'm not trying to convince anyone to go to Mexico if they don't want to but there's a pro for every con. Tijuana shouldn't represent all of Mexico.
