At our 1 year checkup the pedi mentioned that DS has penial something....can't remember the term. Basically when he pulls the skin down it doesn't go far enough, like the skin is sticking. I'm not sure if I'm explaining this right. I called a friend and her Dr said the same at 9 mos so she made sure to pull the skin down each night to clean it and by 1 year it was fine. Pedi said 90% of boys this happens to and if it doesn't resolve by his 15 mos appt he will basically force the skin down . Takes about 10 seconds but obviously not pleasant for DS.
Anyone have experience with this? I feel like I can't pull the skin down without hurting him. So I just keep trying and overtime it will resolve?
Are you talking the care of an uncirc'd penis? An adhesion?
They're sort of like vaginas- self-cleaning and meant to be left alone- at this point. They become retractable over time, typically before or around puberty.
I would be running in the other direction from a clinician who wanted to do otherwise unless there was an actual problem confirmed by a pediatric urologist.
I am assuming he is circumcised? My DS isn't circumcised and we were basically told not to touch it but I don't know what to do for a circumcised penis.

DS is circ'ed and dr said it can reattach. Make sure you pull it own (especially chubby babies w a fat pad) and you can still do Vaseline at night to keep it from reattaching.
DS is circ'ed and our doctor told us to gently unstick his penis when we gave him a bath to prevent adhesion. We did it from about a month to 9 months-ish.
