I'm trying to be open minded, but I can't see myself voting for a Republican in any capacity right now. Even at the state/local level.
States are doing incredibly scary stuff to reproductive rights and local officials are wielding too much power choosing not to issue marriage licenses. My county and several surrounding counties (all red) shut down all marriage ceremony services at the courthouses rather than perform them for gay people.
I am in MA, so Republicans here tend to not be cuckoo for cocoa puffs. However, there was one candidate for state-wide office from my district who was a proud tea partier (anti-choice and pledged to work to repeal gay marriage if elected), so I was VERY glad I had done some research. (ETA, I wouldn't have voted for her anyway, since she was an R, and I'm not. However, she ran for town selectman after losing the statewide election, and since it can be tough to find info on those candidates, I may have unwittingly voted for her. National politicians often start locally, people!)
Another from MA who has voted R for local government in certain scenarios (Re: Charlie Baker) However, I'm not registered with any party, but I align with Dems.
