I don't know. This may be an attempt to be fair? They had Hillary (top democrat contender), so maybe in fairness they are having Trump as the top republican candidate? Still won't watch.

His quote from the article you linked is hilarious...
"I think it's going to be good for them (NBC), it's going to be fine for me, and you know it's really very much of an honor when you can do a '60 Minutes' or a 'Saturday Night Live.' I think on your own little shelf it's very much of an honor," Trump said.
This is just weird. I can see appearing in a skit, but hosting?
I know he hosted years ago when the Apprentice was new. But the guy can't really laugh at his own expense - he had a sour look on his face during his entire Comedy Central Roast. So this is going to be a very weird episode.
I have a feeling that Robin Roberts hates him because her first comment on Good Morning America was asking how they were going to give equal time to the other candidates - or does that only apply to prime time television and not late night?

Hillary didn't host though. She just made one (pretty self-deprecating) appearance.
Thinking of Donald Trump having an entire monologue...
Well, yeah, I agree. I still wouldn't watch. Well, I'd watch the clips after where people are all "LOOK AT THIS TRAIN WRECK!" but I am not giving ratings to his hosting.

I'd been wondering the same thing. Where are all the ops and equal time opportunities for the other R candidates when he's getting his morning show face time? I'll almost gladly put up with a few minutes of Dr. C or Carly F. or even Jeb! if only to make people sick of the appearances so that none of them are getting the gratuitous cameo and skit appearances.
My understanding is that SNL is an "entertainment" show, and doesn't have to abide by the equal time rules, no matter what pundits might say. Trump will get ratings for the first 30-45 minutes, which is what seems to matter these days. Although I do plan to watch the crap out of the Tracy Morgan ep.
