bjl was not jealous when i was holding her cousin (my brother's baby), but when MIL was holding him, bjl was jealous, and screaming. apparently, it didn't matter who was holding her, my mom, my dad, MIL could not hold another baby....but i could.
maybe...just maybe...whenever i was holding him, bjl was being held by her dad, that's why she didn't scream?

I remember feeling sad when I'd drop him off at my BFF's house (who watched him until he was like 1.5 while I worked), and he would just run off and play with no regard to me leaving.
The good news is that they do go through separation anxiety at different stages that makes you feel like they can't live without you. Tman just got out of a mama stage a few months ago. It was short, but he was so lovey to me, and it made me feel really good.
Maybe bjl just knows that in your heart no one can replace her, so there is no need to be jealous.

Maybe it's because she feels so secure with you she knows there is no reason to be jealous. It's amazing how early they can start to break your heart, though, isn't it?
I bawled my eyes out when I called H to tell him (and typing this now), h swears she was jealous when I was holdong him, too, just not screaming. He said bjl was wiggly in his arms, and yes, I do remember her reaching out for me, but she wasn't screaming the way my parents described her as screaming.

This happened to us when we went to her nanny's baby shower. I held a 4-month old baby, and M just stared at us like she was curious. But DH was holding M, so I'm thinking that's why she didn't get jealous.
I'm sorry - but you know what, NO ONE will ever replace you as her mommy.
so i tested it when i got home last night...i held my bros baby.. (what shall we call him on this board?) and bjl was whiney/squirmy when either my mom, dad, or brother was holding her. h was not home at the time, so we couldn't test that. i asked my mom, in comparison, what did she do when MIL was holding him, and she said it was similar, but bjl would also scream loud enough the neighbors could probably hear.....so..while she's jealous when i hold brother-baby, she's not *as* jealous.
